Hey Guys and Girls.

I am a total newbie to this game and I need someone I can learn from.

I am used to playing WoW and playing the auction house there and make some gold.
I have played good old runescape (and the new 07) and done a lot of economy stuff there too. (Flipping and producing)

I want to get into EvE since I have heard so much about the game.
I know it isnt a fast pace game like WoW or RS, but I want something that I can use some time on everyday without having to be online 24/7 to get things done.

So Business and finance stuff is something that I like to play around with and make the most with the money I have.

So if you want to teach someone who likes to produce things and sell the products, keep hold of the economy on sheats in Excel then I might be your guy.

I hope to hear from you.

This really hurts. I wish you good luck and although I can not help you specifically,
please take this advise ...

Don't mention WoW again. Fast paced... lol ...
... your first real combat experience in EvE will teach you better.

Also I strongly suggest not giving away private details of yourself in public.
Yeah I count Skype to that ne t to other things.

You make it look like you got money ...
... and that means people will take it away from you ...
... assuming you invest that money into PLEX.

People will be friends with you just in hopes you will make ISK or sell PLEX.

And they will take it away from you.

Well, all I have in this game is a capcel with no money.
I just started and never played before.

I havent played EvE before and what I have heard is that the game is "boring" and only in battles there is a lot of fun and things going on.

What I mean with fast pace is that in WoW if you want to make something, then the max amount of time it takes is 1-2 days... In EvE it can take a week or two.

I know nothing about combat in this game.

If people help me, then I pay them back with ISK.
I like that people get a reward for doing something good. But they should do it not to gain something for themselfs, but for others to be able to gain something from the game.

I need a mentor, and I know almost nothing about this game.

I write as a WoW player and a FPS gamer. (BF series)

And I am the easiest person to Dox on the internet.. I am not afraid of others having my info, they cant do anything with it.

Sol...get back to GD...We can handle this.

As for EVE not fast paced, you should really go out and try to be a skirmisher for a fleet...and then try to stay ahead of the fleet, check side pockets, scout for possible targets up ahead and when needed try to get tackle on "All the things"...at the same time.

And I agree with Sol, never ever give away anything on the forums personal (incl skypenames).

Now, if you really love trading from teh other games, you will love EVE's market.
However, not many traders want to share their tips and tricks of course, why would they help you become their competition.

I know I wont get help with that.
I can figure that out myself.

If you check up on what Crypto Currency is (Bitcoin) then see if you can learn that :P

I like to adapt and try new things, but I want to learn how to play the game too so I dont sit in a station all the time and just press buy and sell.

Thank you for the good answer, it sounds like EvE has a lot more to offer then what I have been told by others.

But I just need to find someone who can take me in, and help me get on my feet, so I can start giving back and hopefully become a good member of a community.

This is EVE. Lies, theft, scams, and straight-up backstabbing are the norm, here. Edit your post and remove your personal details immediately, for your own safety.

As others have stated, though, EVE is hardly slow. While some parts of it can be, other parts are over before you even realize they've begun.

Since you've been involved with industry before in other games, you may find it to your liking in EVE, as well. Research, manufacturing, and invention are critical to the health of the game. That's a part of the slower pace in EVE, though. While your production lines are ticking away, you can do trading in a station or, if you want to get involved with some combat, join a PvP group like RvB or Faction Warfare, where fights are readily available within minutes of logging in.

Edit ::

Look into joining a corporation. Check out the recruitment board at https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=topics&f=265 or join the recruitment channel in-game. Chat with some folks, but keep your private details private. Nobody is going to help you when you get cheated for all you're worth. Remember, loose lips sink blow up ships.

I have understood that EvE offers fast pace gaming.. Noted :)

Well, there is scamming in all games.. Wether you like it or not. Its a part of the game, and is somewhat healthy for a game. (I dont support it, but it keeps things going.)

All this thread is about is me screaming for someone to take me under their wings and teach me how to fly.

I just hope that you guys can help me, or maybe you know someone who could use some newbie and teach them.

Thanks for posting :)

Hi, I'm Sol! *kinks*

You called?
What can I do you for?

I would love to guide you, but you really don't need that.
Besides my guidance being rather.... unsuitable for minors. *cough*

This game is best played at first by undocking, experimenting and being social.
Youtube and google help a lot, too! Find your own social circles by talking to people
and getting integrated ... if you care about such a thing.

Just beware that even the nicest lady is most likely just trying to drain you of your liquid.
(Awesome pun. Liquid, aka money, etc)

In any case, if you like to have a chat with a nice young lady I am totally there for you......

Okay... I'm just going to give some general tips since I'm not seeing any actual questions.

- Forget everything you learned in other games. They will not help you here. Things that are normally "illegal" in other games are considered "normal" here.
Examples: extortion, blackmail, ransoms, scamming, market manipulation, price gouging, suicide "bombing/ganking," overwhelming firepower, dishonorable combat, blobbing... the list goes on.

- Twitch gameplay will not save you. Half of "the battle" happens before you ever undock.

- EVE is only as boring as you make it. And what you can make is only limited by your imagination and what resources you have available to manifest that imagination.

- Having more people by your side means you have greater and more flexible resources at your disposal.

- EVE is a "process game"... a "rat race" if you will. Your intellect and diplomatic skills will take you MUCH further than either brute force or tenacity will.
And even at the peak of your power, you can still be brought down by people who seem like "gnats."

- Here is another way to look at EVE:
Dystopian "old-western" dominated by a laissez faire industries/markets with pirate/mongol warlord overtones... in space!

- Everything is player-made/harvested and destructable in this game (except NPC stations, skillbooks, and a few other "small things"). If you lose something, the loss comes out of your time, effort, and money.

- No one is entitled to success in this game. You can build something great and someone can just come along and smash it... or not if you have prepared accordingly.

- there is so much documentation about almost every aspect of this game (Google is your friend). But all the reading in the world will not help you achieve your goals. Neither will having max skills or a mentor.
If you want to know how to do something, you have to try it as often and as early as possible.
Everything else will just give you an edge.

- there is no "level 100" in this game. While the skill system may seem daunting, all that really separates you from a veteran player is experience and resources to draw upon.
The latter can be easily "fixed" by teaming up with older, richer players... the former comes with time and experimentation.

I dont throw more money then I can afford to lose.
I had a feeling since you were this easy to talk to..

But yes, I am a little surprised..

I dont give out gold in WoW.
I dont give out GP in RS.

Why should I do it here?

You dont know what I do in the crypto world.. Were I make accual money. Not ingame money.

(I know ISK and Plex can be sold for cash)

So no..

Dont sell the skind before the bear is shot.

I didn't meant you'll scam people but as new Eve player it's easy to fall into a trap and lose all your stuff. so it's useful to know the ways of wicked space pirates and save yourself the trouble.

comes in mind is the notorious margin trading etc... just learn what the more known scams are and try to avoid them if you are going to do trading.
