Help me choose my cruise missile ship for botlands ratting.

Hey guys, I bought a char with cruise missiles 2 while I skill it up for a Golem what ship should I use? This is botlands ratting.

You forgot your drones on the Barghest.
You can have it estimate price (based on eve-central, I think) in preferences.
I would probably go the Barghest and throw in an extra SBA or a prop mod. Or a TP. Also, Vampires/Neuts are useless against NPCs, last I heard (although I'm not sure if the info was right)

Also, RS isn't very skill heavy for DPS, since the main DPS normally comes from the drones (which it has a role bonus equivalent to a domi with BS5 for heavies/sentries) and you already have t2 sentries, so it might be good choice. Also has a good tank

The vampires keep me cap stable, if you put them on a npc you still get cap so you are sort of cheating.

And yes I forgot drones on the Barghest, its also the most expensive of the 3.

Barghest is a terrible choice for PvE. Sure, it has marginally more paper DPS, but the second bonus is completely wasted and it won't apply damage as well as a CNR.

This is what I used when I had a character in Drones 2 months ago.

In Hordes, warp to 30, approach a structure and MJD. This gets you off the warp in beacon but keeps you in drone control range of everything/

Start ECM burst (to keep aggro off drone), launch drone, kill any frigs 1st with drone as drones approach you (frigs die 1st for safety because some warp disrupt, but also because frigs soak up a lot of the cruise missile dps so getting them killed 1st clears the way for your cruises to do max damage on battleships and crusiers/BCs coming at you.

Repeat for each spawn, remember to restart FoF missiles and restart them after reload. Watch drone for incidental aggro though everything will die before the gecko even gets into armor on the rare occasion aggro switches off of you. Inferno FoFs for the bonus instead of EM missiles.

FoF/ECM Burst/GeckoSnake (I really need to find a better name) is nice and easy, fairly cheap as Pirate ship ratter set ups go, safe (pay attention and dying is almost impossible with your MJD) and not as embarrassing a loss as a ratting carrier is.

Also, makes more isk than an "Isktar" fit Ishtar with the only 'overhead' being FoF missiles which you can build for yourself if you have access to a station.

Too bad my drone skills suck balls... I trow it in eft but doubt I get any reasonable dps.

My character that flies it get 1150 dps with not perfect skills. How much do you get. once I know that I might be able to figure out a quick training plan for you to get you above 900 at least. The Rattlesnake great for lower skilled drone pilots because the strength is in the ship bonuses.

More is better but imo anything above 800-850 dps in a battleship sized ship is ok for ratting. My Machariel with partial crystal set (for tank) and +5 hardwirings (guns and cap) deadspace fit does 1400+ dps, for comparison (and epeen wagging:) ).

If you have good missile skills and lowish drone replacing some of the DDA with BCU in that fit might work for you.

rattle or Ishtar/gila for botlands anything drone/missle based/ my ex dronelands rattle got to 1700 vanilla 1850 overheated dps before it got to silly silly money. Obviously that was with implants and deadspace fit.

With Caldari BS V and good missiles skills (not on this toon fwiw) I'd argue the Barghest is the best cruise missile platform for pve in the game. Yes the point bonus is wasted. So what. Your cruise missiles travel over 20k a second. They will hit your target before fire cycle comes up, no more wasted salvos. And with some rigor rigs and those great missile skills you will hit bigger targerts harder than a CNR and still do great damage on smaller ships. With a faction AB you burn around over 500 m/s with a 370 m sig radius. It's sort of a Machariel with missiles. And at 20k m/s missile velocity it mind as well be guns.

On an alt that does the occasional pve stuff I will never do any pve activity with cruises on any other boat except the Barghest. Selling Golem and CNR cheap if interested.

But yeah if just starting out the CNR will be better because you really need all V's for the Barghest to shine in pve.

And another but, using a BS for 0.0 is a bit risky. They are slow and easy to catch. Just be cautious.

Also not sure why you want a AB on there..

Atm just using the navy typhoon and it works fine.

Also good intel and a good system does wonders to neuts.

Because some of them can get good (500-700m/s) speed with a shiny AB which is only a fraction of the price of the hull?

Why the hell do you put such an expensive mods on a ratting ship ?!? I've done my ratting in t2 fit Gila, ppl rat in Vexor Navy issues or Ishtars.

If you get ganked, you have to rat for 2 weeks to get the money back !
