Some thoughts on how I imagine D-Scan working

This thread had some discussion on how D-Scan works. I found the answers unsatisfactory so I have started coming up with some of my own ideas.

My theory is based on the idea that warp drives are always on. So warp drives could be emitting particle radiation of some type that due to the distortions in space caused by the warp drive moves FTL. It continues to move FTL when it exits the warp drive due to some sort of self perpetuating distortion surrounding the particle that keeps it moving at FTL speeds for several hundred AU. I see no reason that these speeds could be faster than a specific warp drive is capable of.

I also imagine that these particles could change course due to interactions with gravity fields and matter. This would allow the scanning of things that do not have a warp drive. This means that a cloaked ship could theoretically deliberately emit warp drive radiation toward large objects like planets to do an active scan when no other warp drives are present in system.
