At first I didn't like this idea. Then I remembered Vertical Supremacy. +1

It needs to be vertical with a spoke going outwards from the middle so it can be used as a transformer for a Max-Matar ship (this will be a t3 battleship comprised of different hulls, the hulls are in fact 'subsystems'), this would be the connectors for the joints.

So for instance,

The Fenrir could be used as the body and Naglfars can be used as the limbs, Stabbers would form the fingers and the Rupture would be the thumb. The hand would be a scimitar and the feet would be a hoarder with its toes being shuttles for the smallest toe, a talwar for the normal sized toes and a thrasher as a big toe. The typhoon would of course be the head as it's a battleship class. For its armanents, the Nidhoggur would be the shield and the ragnorak would be its sword of which it would exact mighty justice against the evil enslavers of the Amarr.

Vertical is fine (as long as it isn't a shoe), but it really needs the traditional cooling fins.

Agree about those cooling fins! That's why I like concepts 1 and 3 so much.

I guarantee that the artwork for the Matari T3 Destroyer is already decided on and underway, given that the ship has to be ready by February, which means deployed to SiSi in less than a month.

I usually don't make this kind of topics, but it seemed a good idea to do so this time.

Many of us would like to see the upcoming T3 Minmatar Destroyer to be vertical.

I'd like new ships to look like science-fiction, not fantasy. And if you make a vertical ship, assuming the rocket engine is the middle, then the top and bottom have to be needlessly strong and heavy so that they don't break off when you give it some throttle. There's a reason the ship in avatar don't look like the naglfar.
I don't like the ships that look like the inquisitor (two engines at each side of the ship, massively difficult to control) and tormentor (only engines at the top, it would simply spin around and around). Or any other fantasy-esque designs that don't even try to make sense. Stahp it CCP!

I know about its structural issues; I'm an aerospace engineer. But hey, this is 25,000 years into the future. We have gigantic space stations and spaceships, warp travel, FTL communications... and our ships turn without any visible thrusters (I always thought they do via local micro-warping of spacetime). I'm pretty sure we can make sure a vertical ship does not fall apart when we start its engines Blink

Not a fan of any of the examples, but a vertical T3 dessy would be awesome. +1

Even better, IMO, would be that the ship is vertical in one or two of it's modes, and non-vertical in the other. For example in sniping mode it is vertical, and in the other modes it is not.

CCP approaches problems in one of two ways: nudge or cludge

+1 for vertical

Tank mode:
While in tank mode the ship will deploy magic ductape that will wrap all around the ship 90+ to all resistances

Speed mode:
While in speed mode 420% to max velocity. 90% reduced capacitor usage for Microwarpdrives

Snipe mode:
While in snipe mode all turrets will gain an additional 6,9 AU added to their optimal range

Role bonus:
Cannot be nerfed by CCP

pls add

Yes please to vertical

Side note: I vote also that Minmatar ships should have exclusive ability to substitute duct tape for nanite paste.

I like concept 3 the best; it has a lot of potential for mode transforming from a model standpoint
