I've received the gifts, but don't know/remember how to put them on. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Dock up, and in the ship services window there should be an icon called "Character Customization". It looks like a jumper/sweater (whatever floats your boat), simply hit that, and from there you can swap out your clothes, as well as give yourself a new haircut if you so wish.

drop any additional clothes you want into your item hangar.

use the character customization icon. They'll show up.
