I made the mistake of clicking on the Eve Radio ad in the news panel and after being directed to their website was prompted to install "FLVPlayer" to be able to listen to Eve Radio.

The install process includes some bundles which even after having deselected (they come preset by default as "on") the program installed and my browser was hijacked by something called "Babylon"

If you have found yourself in this situation here is some information which may help you clean your computer and restore your browser

Thank you very much Eve Radio.

sadly most of the private outfits connected with eve are simple ad revenue generators operated by people who don't care what it is, as long as they get 2 cents per click.

I just wish CCP investigated a little more before posting it in their in-game news panel.

Forum links have warnings. Eve news panel items appear official and don't have any warnings at all.

I'd like to know how this managed to happen to you.
Our site has two players, one is flash based and requires no addon (other than flash).
The other is Windows Media Player based (this is the default if you're on windows), if you use IE then you simply need to allow the control again nothing installed.
Finally if your on windows using FF / Chrome / etc you do need a plugin to enable it, however this plugin is distributed by Microsoft and should therefore be virus free.

What route did you go down, and what site were you directed to, to download?

Just to clarify the other points although we do have ads on the website they income they generate is very small and only cover a very small percentage of our operating costs.
Most of our costs are recovered from listeners supporting us directly and therefore we do very much care about their experience.
I say most of our costs as we do still currently run at a loss with the rest made up by Staff. No one makes any money from ER (except the data centre).

The site has several thousand visitors per month and this is the first time I've heard of an incident like this.
Now this doesn't mean it hasn't happened before and either the person hasn't realised or hasn't reported it, which is why I would like to understand to make sure there isn't a problem we need to resolve.

I've been having a look and haven't found anything yet.
If you could let me know which Operating system you were using,
which browser (and ideally which version if its not the latest),
and if you already had flash installed (most people do but not everyone).
I assume you aren't already registered on the ER site (different modules are displayed to registered users).

I'll then create a virtual machine with that configuration and try it (if its Mac I might struggle)

I suspect the OP is rumourmongering to avoid taking responsibility for his terrible browsing habits...

Yeah, I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with the EVE Radio site which is working perfectly fine. I have checked the link across multiple browers on several different devices and it is working just fine.

Locked.
