Countering Vexors and Arbitrators

I have a challenge for you. Let's say you're grouped up with 2 other dudes and you're kicking Amarrians out of Auner, You just finish kicking the last ones out, and you're sitting in a medium plex, counting down the timer. Then, 3 war targets come into the system and land on the medium: 2 vexors and an arbitrator. They kick you out of the medium and begin plexing it on their own. You're 1 jump away from your staging system. What do you come back in?

Something smaller to run the novice & small plexes, which will both finish before the medium that's now being run down for nearly twice the length of its timer.

That's exactly the same conclusion we came to.

Whoever suggested guns and an active tank against TD's and the highest likelihood of neuts, should go back to the drawing board.

Bring a Garmur, burn ahead and out of point, kite and kill their drones from 60*km out and laugh, preferably while keeping point on one of them. Find out what their highs are, make some friends, then come back with a counter to hold them down.

Without know specific fits, I can't be sure, but here's a few ideas.

Smartbombs and TDs. As long as you have some tank to buy time, you can pop their drones. TDs would neutralize any guns pretty effectively. Use drones to counter their TDs.

So maybe, two brick tanked, dual TD, smartbombing vexors and a tackle/neut maller.
Let the maller grab someone so they don't leave, web/scram/neut; and TD/SB until their DPS drops. Then kill whatever the maller has tackled.

At the very worst, you kill their drones and force them do dock and rearm.

That's exactly the same conclusion we came to.

If your goal is taking the system and not specifically destroying those ships, this is likely the best solution.

If the goal is specifically destroying those ships, I'd suggest something tanky with HAMs. A few smartbombs wouldn't hurt either.

How to counter Vexor: Something that can kill drones, preferably stays out of scram/web range.

How to counter Arbitrator: Missiles. Don't focus the arbitrator if there is anything else on field though. Many people forgo damage on the Arby and go max tank/ewar. I've won many 3v3's in T1 cruisers against HACS and T3s because many enemies focus down my Arbitrator, in an attempt to get rid of the tracking disruptors, while the rest of my fleet in thoraxes/vexors tears them down.

So to answer your original question... I would go with atleast a HAM caracal. Probably won't last long. If bigger ships are available, Gila.
