Modular starbases, a chance to have a proper "home" in EVE.

Now that CCP is looking at star bases I think it's timely for the community to discuss just what they would like having a 'home' in space in EVE online to mean.

This will mean different things to different players.

To nomadic players it may be an upgraded mobile depot with repair facilities.
To sovereignty holders it may be a giant station that declares " this is ours"
To small groups or solo players it may be a small outpost with customisable interiors.

What would a "home" look like to you in EVE

I want to live in a hollowed out Fenrir that serves as a mobile home and service bay. Which is kind of what the Thukkar tribe does if i remember.

Totally this

Basically, an anchorable which functions as a personal/corp hangar, fitting service and a docking bay up to 3 battlecruisers or 1 battleship (+10 standings required to dock). Can load appropriate racial CQ. Hit points of a bulkhead-fit freighter, model of a freighter with a special (rusty) skin and a few doodads (scaffolding, etc.) here and there. 30 mins to anchor, 200k m3 to deploy from a freighter bay. Owned by a character, not a corp. One per character to prevent spam. Unlike mobile depots, is protected by concord in highsec.

And so we'd have proper "player housing".

CCP would never do this though :P

I like how you think...and I'm not sure CCP does....think, that is.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

My home is where my ship is, much flying lately. I use the deployable Mobile Depot very often and it is sufficient to me. But I think some industrial oriented players would like to have something easier to deploy and upgrade than current poses. Or RP structures selled for aurum, deployable and with interiors.

Take two Providence shells, sandwitch a few POS mods between them, anchor in a Deadspace area, drop a scan inhibitor on it.

And here's a personalized Amarr home port.

Yes, if they were something a high sec carebear would bother himself with it, then CCP would never implement it.

Frankly, my home is the station where my ships are docked. It is not mine and I can't customize it, but also can't be destroyed by any assholes with too many free time in their hands.

My home would look like Deep Space 9.

A slow moving station parked near the entrance to a wormhole.

I honestly don't care what form it takes, as long as it simplifies individual storage and security.

Post with your main, like a BOSS!

And no, i don't live in highsec.  As if that would make your opinion any less wrong.

My home is a shtick with a bubble around and boxes inside. In wspace.
DON'T CHANGE THAT.
Ofc a personal SMA and personal divisions for CHAs would do.
And max 10k distance from SMA in order to grab, store or fit ships.

A genuine, spherical "... that's no moon..." DEATHSTAR with internal docking bays, hangars, "bays" for assembly and manufacturing arrays of my choice, copious storage space, weapon and ECM batteries on the surface and plenty of floor space for a much expanded "Captain's Quarters".

And yes, the ability to launch and control fighters and/or fighter bombers, just like a SCap.

Why ?

Why the Hell not ? CoolCoolCool

And it has to be jump capable on it's own, not some variation on "bridging" and be able to travel Low Sec.

Finally... it should be able to deliver a proper Orbital Bombardment -- not this pissant crap we have now. Make those Dust Bunnies dance, dance, dance ! ! !

I've spent a year in WH and it was very uncomfortable to hang around POS in the middle of endless empty space. I've almost developed agoraphobia.

I want player owned stations where I could park a ship and go into captain's quarters. Probably different modules with different interiors - including multiplayer halls.

My number one requirement for a space home: I need to be able to hide it very well, so it doesn't get exploded the next day after I anchor it. Another is that I definitely need to store some ships in there, so I can build a base of operations in Null Sec somewhere, for example, and have a couple of ships for different tasks. Something like one cruiser hull, one frigate hull and one Blockade Runner, which seems like a resonable and a balanced amount for single person.

I imagine my space home like some sort of a pirate hideout in a hollow asteroid somewhere on the outskirts of a solar system, with a captains quarter where i can look at the stars from a window and an ability to customize the inside to some extent. I liked Mass Effect 2 captain's quarters very much because of how natural it felt for some reason and a glowing fish tank was pretty cool, too. There is quite a number of objects in EvE already that could serve as souvenirs or artifacts for decoration purposes(books, fedos, all the funky objects we got for Christmas etc).

A new ship hangar environment to go with the whole "hideout" look, looking a bit less sterile and a bit smaller, "piraty" in some way, would be of course a very welcome addition.

It would be great to have a personal assistant and some crew in there too, to add to the immersion factor. If CCP do not have enough talent and ressources at hand to build additonal 3D space for such a crew, maybe they could use the modular ressources they still have lying around to model something akin to X-COM base interface, which still looks pretty nice, but saves on modeling amount. Or maybe something like the station Interface from Schleichfahrt or Aquanox which is still a magnitude above the current level of immersion when it comes to in-station environments.

Have 4 for each race. Would love a providence or Charon as a mobile base. This would be good for incursion runners or WH's. It'll also need. Cloaking device like the sleeper stations, that way you can't be probed down. Only when you undock will it be visible for 15 minutes.

I have to disagree slightly with my lovely colleague here by saying I'd love to customize our POS, though I doubt Jack would appreciate it that much, probably threaten to move out again (Foetus would prolly love it though).

In a post above someone mentioned customizing ship hulls for living. Xercodo told me an RP-idea that inspired me once, something him and his alliance once did, so I emulated it and had a Rokh left floating near our tower "tethered" to the other structures. The ship was gutted and converter into a floating hotel of sorts for corp members, friends and guests to chill in, with a dedicated channel for chatting and RP created surrounding it.

It eventually got stolen. Lol

Anyway, a fitness module for the girls to spend a couple hours in each morning and evening would be fantastic, and save them having to jog laps around the dirty stront tanks on the tower's lower levels like they do at the moment. Separate amenities like bathroom and hydro-hygiene modules would also be a great idea. I'm all for equal rights and understand wormholes mean a lack of luxury most times, but self control is hard when you share a shower and shitter with someone of Jack Miton's caliber. Not to mention toilet seat always left up and shower water always left everywhere, dirty socks and ****. You know how it is.

I'd never like to see docking at POS towers, so to speak, but anyone in my corp who's seen how much time I spend in station using the character creator would understand when I say that having a CQ (or at least change room) at the POS tower would be solid gold. Either that or a new deployable module, like a mobile depot, except mobile change room.

I'm not even joking either. **** k-space.
