Solo bombers rarely kill anything, unless something tiny and squishy has it's MWD on.
Solo TORP bombers, on the other hand, can kill ratting battleships easily, especially if the BS tank is already pressured by rats and the PVE dude is the sort of excitable pilot who fat-fingers things when faced with the conscious aggression only another player can provide.

Everyone does better in fleets. The point of flying solo is to challenge yourself and become better on your own without needing a crutch. Nothing in this game has been more thrilling for me, personally, than solo pvp, whether I'm winning or losing.

I realized you hit the nail on the head for me. Yes, I never have had a kill. But my solos fights, they are so much fun. I've taken on 4 ships, had 3 down to the hull before dying. Someday, I'm gonna kill some of them before I die......Someday...

Also you might want to simplify your fits at the beginning, fly more passive fits so you could focus on actual fight instead of having 20 things to take care of. Scram/web/ab in mids, plate/dc/(gyro/te) in lows, full gank highs and rigs to taste. This way you basically click point and web and start shooting and all you have to care about is range.

Frankly, I think this post is brilliant, simply brilliant...

Are you sure you posted in the right game forum?

Yeah, welcome to EvE!

Step One: Pick a ship with a natural high tank.

Step Two: Add to the tank with Tech 2 defense modules. But you won't need many because you are hunting noobs.

Step Three: Find a noob in a PvP area. You know the ones that write post about their first PvP experience and how much they love dying and how much they learned.

Step Four: Watch them pound on your tank with Tech One weapons. You can really troll them by being hull tanked so they think they will have a chance.

Step Five: Open fire at your leisure. If it is a rookie ship one volley from your Tech Twos should suffice.

remember you don't get XP from achievements, just from sitting around. XP= Skill. Skill = Gear. Gear = Profit.

Edit: Caught one spelling error, probably more.

Hanging out in wormholes doesn't count?

One suggestion from the many threads of how to be a solo bomber.

"If you are looking for large numbers of potential kill mails i would take my bomber to fountain and wait for some big battles to erupt. Right now there are 2100 people in PNQ fighting each other. Get a nice little bomb into the middle of that blob while they are fighting and you might find yourself on hundreds of kill mails.

I once did that in the middle of a fight between blast and panda team years ago and ended up on dozens of blast capital kill mails. It can work if you get a good perch set up on the battle and wait until they are engaged. As long as you are nuetral to everone on the field it can be entertaining. "

it works particularly well if you're in a frigate that takes a lot of micromanagement.

That is great advice.

It is way more fun if you're blue to one side and your bomb hits them.

I learned today that I am not good at PVP. No, actually I'm terrible at it. I don't understand the mechanics, it's difficult to watch modules, distance to ship and overall the GUI is pretty difficult for a beginner pvp pilot. Did I launch drones? Is the ship in range? Did I overheat my module? Did I stop overheating? Too many variables to keep track and in too many places and it moves so fast I forget what I'm doing!

I even had a decent fit and I still can't take down a simple destroyer hull. I got close, but I didn't notice he flew outside my rocket range because I was watching the hull.... bleh. How do you do it? Congrats to those with the patience to learn this, I think I prefer shooters and aiming with a mouse.

PvP solo is like playing eve on Ultra Difficult. Don't do it! Join a fleet. I do better in fleets.

I've been playing since 2006 and I'm still terrible at PVP.

There are so many corps that take and teach nubcakes, I can't believe they won't take you just because of excessive SPs.

Brave, E-Uni (which has Low/Null/WH divisions and you can dive into at least first two right off the bat), RvB... They should take you if you want to join. OUCH (aka Open University of Celestial Hardships) kinda positions itself specifically as learning corp. Those are ones I know.
Then there are many less known newbro-friendly corps, I'm sure you can find them on EVE-O or E-Uni recruitment boards. Use common sense while applying, but hey, that goes without saying.
Then there are open communities like Spectre Fleet and Bombers Bar who occasionally offer training fleets. Agony does open lessons as well, as far as I can tell.

Just go ahead and try if that's what you're looking for.

Eve was designed to punish solo play, it's monotonous, it's boring and repetitive on purpose. You are meant to team up....

I'm told "Never Trust Anyone"...

So I wont...

You don't need to trust in order to "team up".

You just use them.

I'm a PvP nub, and what I do is record every fight, and take any fight I don't know I can't win.

Once you have recordings of a few different people killing you with the same ship, you'll have an idea of what to expect from that ship.

Also, accept that it is going to be a while before you remember to do even all the obvious things like launching drones.

So it is.

I am quite bad to and have to go a long way to break even. My mining alts have a hard time to keep my pvp expenses in check.

As Crumplecorn says:
Check the killboards, check what was done to you. What equippment was used. Check the killboards of other fights. Compare the weapons, the charges.

Same as for miners: If the gankers always use Catalysts with void ammo, it is a wise idea to check what damage they do and what you need to counter this. Check for weaknesses. Void is close range, moving is wise.

In PvP keep those at distance. Greater ranges do less damage. I am playing a little more than a year and still there is stuff i understand better and better.

Always a good idea: check if you have enough ammo. I had an interesting fight when i ran out of ammo, cause i forgot to refill...

OP, I've been playing for about 6 and a half years, with breaks. Started PVEing with friends, my first taste of PVP was flying to meet some mates in my very first Hurricane, and taking a shortcut through Rancer. Guess how that turned out.

6 and a half years later, I still suck at PVP. I'm ok when I can fly a logi or recon in a fleet, but when it comes to Solo I'm freakin terrible.

On the other hand, I don't mind losing lots of cheap ships, and would rather fight and die than run away. So don't worry about whelping ships, its really not the end of the world, and can still be a lot of fun. After a few times, the "shakes" will drop to more handle-able adrenalin rush, and even when you die you can still have fun :)

I'm a pew PVP total noob too. I only managed to kill an Omen, on sisi with a 1v1 during a mass test, certainly by luck.
But living in lowsec, as I do, teach you at least how to avoid pew PVP and gate camps. Better than nothing...
I think that I will staying into the ninjain'g pvp avoidance until, one day, I will fit for a roaming fleet, but I don't like blob, and like someone else said, no one is interested to include you into a small gang fleet if you haven't any kill.

Keep it up, with your practice you will become better than many dudes and dudess in Eve. Smile

I blame TV and all those Rambo and Gladiator style movies. In real life even the best solo "gladiator" tended to do poorly aka die when outnumbered by as few as 2 simple badly trained conscript soldiers with pointy sticks lol.

Nah its Deathmatch FPS and LOL style gaming where teams are even and access to weapons is "fair".

The antithesis of survival.

Or, you know, chess, tennis, or any other competitive endeavor that our society actually places value on because they are measures of acute skill, talent, and training, instead of a mere willingness to throw an inordinate amount of time at assembling a gang in an online game.

EVE is simulating a futuristic high tech (but still virtual) world in a perpetual state of war, not a sport. Nothing wrong with solo pvp but the game is balanced along the lines of 'more is always better', like actual real life and unlike sports. That's what some of us like about the game, the 'fair' fight is the one where you live and the other guy dies.

Yes, I understand what EVE is. It's perfectly nice to like the game.

It doesn't make one a higher class of gamer to like unstructured games over competitive ones, which is a sentiment I see repeatedly in this post and elsewhere on the site.

You have it backwards. NO ONE chest thumps louder than 'solo' PVPrs (in this game or any game). I mean, some of them are so full of themselves because of their prowess in making other people's ships explode they make this guy look like he's not an arrogant jerk who hogs the ball (lol). The truth is, nothing any of us does in a video game amounts to a hill of beans and everyone knows that...execpt some solo pvprs...and Kobe Bryant Twisted
