Anyone experienced with remote controlled drones?

I'm especially curious about stability and precision positioning at about 80' in the air. Say slip a hook into a 1" hole?

Do they have any type of self-balancing during slight wind gusts and the like?

I need one that can be piloted using a real time camera as well.

Is this such a thing? I really don't know anything about these things but a strange situation/request from a customer came up and if I can pull this off it will save him money and strengthen my contact. :)

I've seen price range vary from $200-1000 but can't seem to find anyone with any real flight experience.

Any advice of any kind would be appreciated!

Other then asking a one from the US army there are no independently flying drones out there for obvious reasons and even military ones have an operator at all times.
You can hook up a camera with remote feed on the thing though and fly it remotely out of sight but civilian versions aren't equipped to deal with the loss of control or flying out of range.

DJI would be one of the leading brands but you also got Walkera, Hubsan and several more. (got a smaller hubsan myself and love em).

Also if you are into building them yourself there are several awesome sites selling all the parts you need.

Even got GPS controlled ones, FPV cams, models for lifting DLSR cameras etc, and most commercial models have stabilisers or gyros.

Remember to check flight regulations and photo regulations for your area though

A Parrot Quadcopter would be your best bet. It may take practice and a few tries to get within one inch. Bu it uses GPS, gyros, and optical flow (like an optical mouse) to help station keep and be easy to control. I have very limited experience with them, bt they seemed to be quite good.

Yea that Parrot looks like a good candidate in the future -

Thanks for the advice guy but after researching more I think it's not going to happen. Even with a high end $1500+ machine it sounds like a pretty lucky shot even for an experience operator.

I guess it's crane time unfortunately. Glad I don't have to foot the bill.

I have never worked in customer service so i cant help you with knowing how to handle remote control drones.

The government is highly experienced with drones. You should ask them. Lol
