allow us to add JBs to the maps please!!! I know alliances JBs show up, but how about coalition JBs?

I like that idea! I don't know how easy it is to make it happen from dev side but i hope its possible in some ways.

i found myself going back to the old map , as a regular map user i use the statistics section alot, i look at jumps per hour , kills per hour , stations in system etc , old map all these things were easy to identify , new map not so easy , does not give me enough information for planning routes imo.

also i would rather have an arrow instead of the square , not sure if this can be changed and iv'e just missed something

First, I really like this new map. Having played around with it a bit I have a suggestion:

Add a checkbox to have the map follow the "you are here" icon as you change systems. The map will already snap to the "you are here" when you open it but it would be great if you could also enable that to happen when you jump.

EDIT: Second request - would it be possible to have the map window minimize when the title bar is double clicked as well? I'm guessing this is only missing because the map is still Beta but thought I'd mention it in case this wasn't intended to be added.

Ive been using the new map, I like it, I like the zoom from galaxy to solar system scale. Its easy to move around in. Intuitive enough I was able to just do it. It didnt annoy or **** me off because of anything obviously bad. Its good, keep it up.

Can you make New Eden's nebulae visible on the new map, as they are in this Dust 514 trailer? This would really help people orient themselves in space.

Here's my feedback for the new map.

  1. Destination icon
  2. Icon for stops on route
  3. Some sort of better route visualization in Security Status mode (+)
  4. Better coloring mechanism for many of the statistics modes (blue -> red)

I love this thing by the way.

(+) I was thinking some sort of triangles which would also show direction as an added bonus

I want to express my appreciation and thanks to the entire team that is working on the new map. The feature is pretty great atm, and a sheer pleasure to use, and I am hope that it will end up even more functional than the previous one.

Any colour you like.

Great! I like this map, a very good work. The Abstract Layout (flat) is well done too.

Issues so far:

- Often the right mouseclick at a star do not work, show nothing. May be depends what I choosed at 'Statistics'...
- Hovering over a star OR the right mouseclick should show direct the Security Status and the Region.

Edit: Right mouseclick to the actual choosed star don't work for me

Awesome new map. Big smile
Haven't seen a Dev response yet, so just adding a +1 for making sure bookmarks make it onto new map.
Thanks for all the great work.

It's a great start. But let's get it right before replacing what works. Do CCP gather client statistics? Wait until the majority of players opt to use the beta map before even thinking about making it the only map.

I agree the new map looks promising, and if they get the old map functionality in with new look and feel - and added features like World Map Control Panel no longer being a seperate window, it can be great.

But monitoring who is opted in is a bad estimate for the quality of the new map, people might be opted in to take a look, then use the old map for practically everything because of issues / lacking features in the new map. At least this is the case for me, and if I had to pick 1 map only currently, it would be old without a doubt.

I like the new starmap, But is there any way to add how many au a system is across ? also can you also add a filter to let you know how many au a planet is from it's sun? this would increase functionality and allow players to plan in advance which systems are best suited for safe spots farther than 14.1 au from any known celestial objects.

Thanks again for all the great work on this awesome new map. Big smile

If you are using the map, and view a planet in "planet mode", once you "Exit Planet Mode" the map closes and you have to restart it each time.
Probably should go back to map instead of closing map ?

Merry Christmas o/

Edit: only seems to happen in Full Screen mode, doesn't happen in Float or Docked mode

Add "show bookmarks" in the map, by a system of checking / unchecking the bookmark folders.

Add the ability to mark or highlight systems by right-clicking them / by any means of "linked" system support (chat, info, etc)
"Lets see... there's an Unindentified Structure here.. and here.. and over there.."

I love the "group by regions" option. I'm doing a system-by-system scout run across New Eden, region after region, and being able to sort out the other regions, planning the tour for a certain region is far more effective and easy.

Someone here said the background should show other galaxies instead of stars.. I don't think so. As I understand it, New Eden is not a whole galaxy, but a star cluster inside a galaxy. It's a less than 100 lightyears in diameter, while for example the Milky Way is some 120.000 lightyears in diameter. CCP, please correct me if i'm wrong.

Switching from abstract layout to normal wiew is flawless. But switching back automatically zooms you out of the area you were looking at. Please remove that, zooming back in and adjusting your wiew again is annoying.

I really do like this new map. It is obviously still growing but I say good job over all.

When in doubt, improvise. If improvising doesn't work liberal aplication of a large hammer is recomended until the problem is fixed or no longer a concern.

Has others have pointed out ..

LCPL Serenity - "ISSUE>>>> My assets on map are not bright enough to see."
Little Fawn - "...stars vaguely glow dim red if I look very closely..."
Suicyder - "...can barely (to not) see the route..."
[and others]

.. my only real complaint is that the highlighting filters are way too dim against the background clutter of stars and "nebula gasses".

When filtering on 'places I've been' or 'assets' they're virtually undetectable from the background both in illuminosity and contrast levels.

Couple things now that it's been updated:

1) One other VERY BIG issue that I would like to point out is that using right click to drag the map around does not work!

This means that it's nearly impossible to navigate to a star on the other side of the map if you're zoomed in and clicked on something. You're basically stuck with the thing you've clicked on centered on screen, which should not be the case. At the moment the only way to look at another region for example is to click on a system from being very far zoomed out, and that system will then center on screen. It makes the map very uncomfortable to navigate.

2) The map rotation speed is still slower than the old one so it feels sluggish and not easy to move around.

I'm SUPER happy that the stupid square mouse has been removed, thx for that CCP! The pointer is much better.

1. This is intended, at least for now. Right-click-panning the map was causing some issues so it has been disabled for now. We want to see how players feel about not manually panning but rather clicking on stars to center on them to pan. We will continue to make experiments like this while the new map is still in beta.

2. I'll pass this on to the team.

Please don't make this change a permanent one. Ugh

The pan feature is really intuitive and was my favourite feature that the new map has over the old one.
