yes you will be able to grab it on a reactivated account, per the dev blog:

"All these gifts are ready to be redeemed now, and will be available for you to claim until January 11th, 2015. Also, if you reactivate an account before then, the holiday gifts will be available to you to claim as normal."

This is actually a money maker because players who regularly do not run multiple characters get some exposure to the idea and may end up with more than one account later if they find their alt useful and decide to move it to a second account.

Why would anyone want to do that when they can just go with a sidekick account, either way it will cost you a plex per month to train a character without needing to transfer the character at the cost of more plex.

Trying to figure out how to best use exactly 20 days is the trouble, I can potentially train something to my 3 unskilled alts that were previously just noobscouts, market watchers, and posting to this forum. But what can you do with 20 days, lol, anyone have 20 day skill plans handy for trading, PI (never tried), scouting, etc.?

20 days is plenty for a basic PI alt.

EVE Uni even have a plan to create one in just 12 days.

You are missing the point. The MCT is for the two "free" alts on your existing account. You train them to the point they are useful and then stop training and use them for free. You cannot log these free alts in at the same time as the main but in many cases (such as PI or hauling) that does not matter.

The bonus for CCP comes when you decide they need a little more training to top a few skills and use a PLEX.

With +3s it's about 20 days to train to Covert Ops 1 or Interceptors 1. So you can make your noob scout alt... scoutier.

Or about 20 days to get frigate, rangefinding, pinpointing, hacking, and archaeology to 4, for a decent T1 data/relic runner.

I'm guessing PI alts aren't worth it if you don't own WH/null planets.
