A call for change

Ladies and gentlemen of Factional Warfare and Warfare & Tactics, I feel there has been a steady decline in the quality of forum interaction of late, with threads that would have barely received a handful of replies a year or so ago now going on for pages. To paraphrase Jean Anouilh, framed in the perspective of FW posts to W&T, ‘Your posts are soft weapons; hold them in your hands too long, and they will move about like snakes, and strike the other way.’

Let us not appeal to fear, prejudice or the flag-waving half-truths of people of wishful authority. The big lie of pretending to be the common man while cherry picking quotes out of context only obfuscates rationalizations of unstated assumptions, thus generating posts ad nauseam of exaggeration, loaded language, name-calling, and scapegoating. While euphemisms of intentional vagueness, wrapped around straw man arguments or red herrings, in an attempt to manage the news, demonize the enemy, or gain latitudes of acceptance might provide moments of euphoria or a milieu of control, in the end these actions only result in stereotyping and an oversimplification of issues.

Things are rarely black or white no matter how fervent a testimonial is or how often it is repeated. Unshackle yourselves from the operant conditioning you have endured through disinformation, lying, and deception, lest you be found guilty by association through your acceptance of the love bombs and glittering generalities of the beautiful people of W&T. Continued jumping on the bandwagon to demonize the enemy, to frame their actions, or label them through pithy slogans of inevitable victory only leads to levels of cognitive dissonance that even a post in the form of a thought-terminating cliché can’t penetrate.

I call on you, my brothers and sisters of Factional Warfare, to adopt a value system that strives to honor words of virtue and shuns a Pensée unique stance on issues and/or degenerates into ad hominem posts. Pirate

In short, more real talk needed. The propaganda and posturing on all four sides has become overwhelming and has squeezed out the possibility of useful and genuinely informative discussion. The CAOD model is not one we should seek to emulate.

Also props to the op for fitting in more 'figures' into one post than I think I have ever seen on the eve forums Blink

LOL. I almost spilled coffee over my desk reading this. It's pretty ironic considering the hypocrisy of the thread comes from Gallente. Most of the threads on this forum comes from the Gallente circle-jerk train bashing Caldari pilots or epeening how leet they are. If it's not Crosi Weso trolling everyone, it's a JUSTK pilot whining about stabs or a Villore Accord pilot wondering where all the pew pew has gone.

/sarcasm on As opposed to the CSC pilots who are all epitomies of fine and informative posting /sarcasm off

The real problem is both sides are as bad as each other and neither of them is willing to admit it.

This is true. That's why even though the efficacy of the rubbish is questionable, engaging with you is not an exercise in futility. More often that not, it is quite entertaining.Pirate

An appropriate reply to the underlying theme of my original post, stated with conviction!

If I can just get a word in amongst all the Galmil Pilots congratulating you on such a fine display of text. Obviously, a lot of limited educational background there. I'll keep it simple for you, wouldn't want to steal your thunder and all that.

Along with most of CalMil. I/we will happily adhere to any moral code or mature content that you and your Galmil colleagues set out. All you have to do is start paying for our subscriptions then you can tell us what to do all you like. Otherwise, the hypocracy of faction warfare Comedy Central will continue.

So long as Crosi keeps typing we can't be having that smug (I've done it before everyone else) attitude. The boy islost up his own dark tunnel with no way out!

Thanks for the reply. No thunder stolen. Also, no reason to keep it simple, we've got some pretty sharp spoons in FW.
My call for adopting a value system that focused on 'words of virtue' was less a call for a moral code or mature content than it was for raising the bar in our interactions. So for example, if you truly feel that Crosi 'lost the plot' ages ago, there is no need to keep pounding that dark tunnel. Look for fresh fields to sew.Pirate
As far as paying for your subscriptions is concerned, (Content Deleted).
