But is it always like this in the forums everyone hating each other :P

This is the fluffy bunny forum.

Stay away from EVE General Discussion (GD) and Crime and Punishment (C&P) if your undergarments are not flame-retardant.

J'Poll is one of my favourite posters, and has zero tolerance for fools or perceived fools. From experience I can assure everyone that I've only ever seen J'Poll act with best intentions, and advice. I always try not to rock the boat, and try to get everyone calm and seated again; J'Poll solves the same problem by pushing people overboard, which sometimes involves chasing them around deck a bit first while brandishing an oar menacingly. about J'Poll, He's had to smack me around with the correction whip once or twice and I can say I see her / him on the noob forums giving good advice all the time. Without even reading the content I would tell you to listen to J'Poll over anyone else even myself.

Getting back on topic here is some advice that are common noob mistakes. When I say common read that mistakes that I made and most others make as well.

First fit mission specific hardeners.

The above is a good site for mission specific information. Some of the info can at times be out dated but in general is helpful. note comments sometimes contain really good info.

That is a link to a damage chart that is more general but useful.

Second learn how to use your ship to make best use of it's bonuses. Example if you have a bonus to drone damage focus on drone damage and think of your guns or missiles as being there mostly for pulling aggro and applying a little extra damage. If you have turret bonus learn to use those to help you not only apply more dps but also reduce damage taken etc...

The way that you pilot your ship will not only affect how much damage you put out but also how much you take. Read up on gunnery after you get comfortable with other basics to understand more about this but for here just know that how much damage you are taking wil very greatly depending on if you are flying at the NPCs away from the NPCs or at a high transversal. In some cases you can get your incoming damage to zero while still applying good dps on your target.
