Asteroid respawn locations

Do asteroid belts respawn in the same locations after DTs?

I'm considering making a BM for each belt in the system that actually takes me to the belt, not 30km away from it...

But if the BMs obsolete after each downtime, its pointless (Yes, I could find this out myself, no I don't want to wait until after the next DT and see)

You're on the right track with bookmarks, but what you're going to want to do is to place multiple bookmarks along the length of the asteroid belt. This way, you warp to one end of the belt, and as you chew the rocks near you, you then move towards your other bookmarks.

What you do is buy a shuttle. They fly at 600m/s depending on your skills. You warp out to the asteroid belt, and then fly towards one distal end. When the very last asteroid you can click on is about 10-14km away from you, you want to stop moving towards the end of the belt, and begin moving towards the body (or length) of the belt, until those asteroids are also within 10-14km.

It'll be tricky at first, and I can't very well explain it in text, but with some practice and clever use of locking targets, you can get a bookmark setup that'll maximize your efficiency.

(Note: You are not bookmarking asteroids, you are bookmarking points in space. Go to people and places, and select places, then select 'add location". You want to identify the belt and which bookmark it is to stay organized.)

Linky.

The blue dots represent the spots you will bookmark. The green lines represent the range of mining lazors. The black stuff is the belt itself. And the brown lines point to the area in the belt where you want to target lock an asteroid which you keep within 10-14km when placing the next bookmark in series.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Better than BMing multiple points in one belt is just flying 150km+ away and bookmarking that spot, then you can warp to any rock in the belt.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Now, that's a good idea if you want to jetcan. If you want to use a GSC, not so much.

As asteroids belts can be over 100 km from the beacon, I used to have a lot of bookmarks for the asteroid belts I frequented. I'd bookmark both ends.

I trained for an Interceptor, and now keep one in the Orca I can swap to, because it is no fun travelling 100 km in a Hulk or Orca. I scout out and find a belt in the Interceptor, and the rest of the mining fleet warps to me, then I switch to a Hulk.

A frigate with a MWD is a better solution than a shuttle as it is faster, you can leave it at a nearby station while you mine, plus you can re-package it at a station and carry it in your Hulk's cargohold between systems.

True, but I find once you get up around the 1500-2200m/s, the speed becomes more than a bit unmanageable. If you're just make gross bookmarks, it's fine, but if you want to keep everything within the 10-14km range, warping around at sonic speeds isn't really conducive to that.

you're mining at only 10-14 KM?

protip -- T2 mining links.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

That is the range I prefer to keep my bookmarks. I understand that yes an Orca can boost it further, but it is more logical to prepare for the minimum equipment. At either rate, I would much rather have faster mining and increased yield than longer ra-

Oh. Are you trolling me?

With enough boosts, it's entirely possible to sit at the warp-in point and get at most of the belt with only a little movement. Gotta love mining ops.

Or you can simply BM 3 asteroids in the belt 1 left 1 center 1 right. Done. (huh...yeah)

Eve has miners?!

Yes this is true, but as noted above, sitting right on an asteroid is not conducive to using a secure can. If you just want to jetcan mine, or if you have Orca support, then it's fine. Also, bookmarking asteroids themselves will require you make more bookmarks.
