Mechanics question on subcap Logi

Quick question as there's evidently something that I'm not understanding about subcap logi

Why is it that two of the races have relatively cap stable logi ships, whilst the other two require cap chaining? This tends to have the effect that certain ships are heavily used (Minmatar Scythe) whilst the other racial equivalent (Caldari Osprey) are almost never sought.

I'd have thought that cap chaining would be a feature of T2 logi, and T1 logi of each race wouldn't need the mechanic?

Variety. It's the same reason why two races tend to prefer shield boost / armor rep amount as opposed to shield / armor resists.

There are other factors behind the Scythe's popularity besides it's "flavor" of remote shield boosting, namely being the most mobile T1 logi.

Different styles of Logi work.
The Cap chain method makes them incredibly hard to neut out, and allows them to easily provide cap to the fleet at the same time. So they have their own advantages. Learn when they each should be used.

The more individualistic factions get solo logi; the more communal get cap-chainers. In game terms, every variation of logi is available somewhere.

Which logi are used seems to me as much cultural as anything. You only encounter Scythes; during my stay in WH space, we only ever used Basilisks and Guardians (with the occasional Osprey or Augoror). Two or three of those cap-chained together allowed us to punch well above our weight, fighting T3 fleets with a mixed T1/T2 comp.

Ah, I'm beginning to see.

Many thanks for the responses, I was reasonably confident that it was something that I was not understanding.

Scythe and Exquerioreror, Oneiros and Scimitar are good for smaller gangs where you may be the only logistics, or need to stay mobile for hit and run.

Augorororor and Osprey, Guardian and Basilisk are more for fleets where you have more than one logistics and are intending to have longer fights where cap would be an issue. These have the ability to generate cap out of thin air due to bonuses when chained.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

With good skills guardians and basis can run a 1/5 set up, resulting in more repping power than the other logi. They can also run a 2/4 setup with the second cap transfer going to no one until someone gets neuted, be it another guardian or a pivotal fleet member like a firewalling battleship

Eh, Scimitars were the gold standard in fleet logistics back when I was out in null. Far less susceptible to EWAR and far better at positioning.

It's like asking, "Since those guys put round wheels on their cars and they roll with no problem whatever,
why do we put square ones on our cars that don't move at all...is it genetic?"

We must accommodate the idiocracy.
