Hey everyone,

I've been around for a little over a year and love the game, finally found something I thoroughly enjoy in the game and that's exploration. I absolutely love it, went around high sec for a while until I got used to scanning down sites then moved into low sec with great success, highest site I believe I got was around 50 mill which was very lucky for me. During my time scanning down sites I scanned down Combat Sites and read up on what kind of loot that drops and actually grew to like Combat Sites. I currently go exploring in Null sec now and want to get into combat sites as well, so my question is what ship should I train for or use?

My current combat runner is a Navy Vexor since I have high skill points for Drones, does fairly well in 3/10 and 4/10 complexes. But I'm wondering if I should use a Navy Vexor for low/null sec exploration for both Relic and Data sites and use it for Combat Sites or is there another ship that I should be training for?

Right now my skills are more in Drones than anything else that relates to running combat sites. Any advice would be amazing!

A corp mate of mine uses the tengu for his null sec stuff (no worries about bubbles) also the hostiles in the later complexes can hit you pretty hard (Blood pirates 4/10? Easy peasy, 5/10? not so much)

I use a stratios and while I haven't gone to null with it yet, it's handled everything else really well

Do you carry around a Mobile Depot with your Stratios or do you have a perma explo/combat site fit with it?

For exploration Mobile Depot rules. Swap between Combat and Profession sites.

As for null ships, I like using a T3 so bubbles are not an issue. I'm sure that if you know what you are doing with gate camps a Stratios would work fine.

Would any T3 work or would the Tengu be best for exploration/combat sites?

Tengu is fine. I use a Loki. As far as I can tell it's a matter of taste and what form of combat you prefer.

Something tells me that, say, Legion will have troubles handling Blood sites of upper echelon. But that's mostly a guess.

Depends how high up you want to go. It does a damn site better than a Loki.

I should mention: I do have a Loki fit for exploration. Specifically, it's fit for null professional sites and ganking the odd covops it runs across and it does its job just fine.

For combat though? I just couldn't make it work. Tried. Never landed on a fit that even met my minimum requirements. Both the Tengu and the Legion seem to do the job just fine though. Proteus... well, I'm sure I'll give him another shot soon but it's hard to justify versus an Ishtar.

Whichever you chose, use WH's as fast ways to null. Might take a try or 2 but can take you from the centre of high to the deepest parts of nul in 2-3 jumps... just remember to bookmark your way home Blink
