Quite the interesting story (I think), on how insurance fraud in EvE can be made profitable.

That sounds like a lot of fun! I might have to try it! And seeing as the isk is coming from kill rights, it's not illegal at all!

A genius did this with freighters in the Luminaire live event a while back.

2 billion ISK kill rights, and he got paid three times.

Another use of KRs in scamming situations is that if you are providing neutral repairs in an AWOX situation, someone paying the KR is the only way they can shoot you. This provides a way to somewhat enforce ransoms in AWOX setups, and a ransom with an enforcement mechanism is much more likely to be paid than one without enforcement.

Edit: Why isn't there a microjumpdrive fitted?

As Sabriz says there was a guy running this with freighters at least 6 months ago and after doing some fact checking on the cost of platinum insurance he was making 400 to 500 mill each time.

His M.O. was something like that in your blog. I noticed him in Rens about 6 months ago when someone in local said there was a mach bumping a freighter with killrights off the station. The freighter had a 1 bill killright and looking at the pilot's killboard showed that he had lost several freighters recently. The icing on the cake was that in the cargo there was a plastic wrap and one or more cans :)

It works with freighters and after a bit of theorycrafting I figured it would work well with Orcas as well as it needs a high value T1 ship to make the insurance payout worth the effort. I bit too much like work for me though :)

Rubik Shoe or Rubix Shoe or something like that was the name.

For what it's worth, I've tried variants upon this, with me undocking in a hub in a Kronos with a 2b KR on my head and having my alt say things in local like "LOL look @ that noob idiot flying a blinged Kronos with a killright". Never got any takers.

Edit: Really, really like the double wrap idea though.
