Ok then, short and sweet. I simply cannot see the UI well anymore with these new color schemes. The windows get mixed up so as I cannot tell where one ends and another begins, making it nye impossible to find what I am looking for. Please let me again choose the cool gray scheme that I have used for so many years now. I cannot play EVE this way anymore.

User Interface:

New Map: fixed home station icon not updating
New Map: fixed an issue causing the grouping menu to get stuck
Fixed an issue where binding of keys was not possible
Fleet window no longer selects all members in the fleet when scrolling the fleet window
Fixed an issue where opening and closing stacked windows would cause them to break

Key shortcuts and the fleet window were clearly the most important fixes needed.

There are many, many more important issues with this release than "clipping issues on Eternity dress tops"

A couple have been addressed, but there are still a lot outstanding. So my point stands.

EvilBookmark copying on a scale largen then "just 10 BMs" or "one copy only" became nearly impossible in RHEA.Evil

Pre-Rhea when I selected 10 bookmarks and shift-moved them to the container the selection in the Places Tab remained until I selected new bookmarks. This leads to two very unconfortable issues:

  • if you want to copy from one folder with more than 10 BMs you loose track which BMs you just copied and from where to continue
  • if you want to copy to multiple containers you need to reselect the same 10 BMs over and over before dragging them to the respective container. Before you could just keep shift pressed.

Yes it does, i have stopped supplying a big 0.0 tradehub at all because my eyes start to burn when i do market stuff. And since my job is also at the computer i just cannot afford to get hurting burning eyes from my leisure time.

I want to remind you that there are "professions" in eve that have to live for hours with the new UI. While for PVE PVP Mining guys the UI is just framework, we producers and traders have to face the UI fullscreen for hours. Im sorry for all the newbros in our homesystem now having to buy their toys for a higher price or not getting them at all, but im not going to risk my job or my personal health for a game just because someone of the Dev thinks the game needs a flashy new UI.

Oh well .......I'm going to ask...Can I have your stuff then? Evil

I say this because you can complain all you want but I doubt it will not get changed basically for the fact that not enough people are complaining about it. You may think that this is a lot of people but it isn't compared to some of the old outrage on the forums.
Personally as I've mentioned before, after a brief moment of WTF is this junk I actually don't mind the UI anymore hasn't stopped me doing one thing I usually do.

Because something doesn't affect you and has an easy fix, it doesn't mean you should belittle those with the issue. If we can just get rid of the changing opacity/brightness of a selected window and keep all the windows as "always selected" so that there isn't 100% white text on 100% black background you'd have 99% of the issues gone.

This isn't about how the UI feels, not how it works. It's about how contrast works and that's it. If they implement the change, you would not see a single thing changing in the UI at your end but those who need it wouldn't have ot eat pain killers just to play. As a note, this is how the new UI Actually looks like when you take out the transparency and the blur: http://i.imgur.com/beeLBp8.png and it is painful to look at for hours on end, especially when actions cause 10-20% of your screen to light up brighter and go dark immediately.

I'm not belittling at all I'm just saying as in the real world numbers matter and unfortunately people who are having the problems with the UI are not in the majority so I doubt it's going to get changed completely. If there are easy changes to make that will save some people a headache then by all means CCP should change it as long as it doesn't affect the majority of players who don't have a problem, e.g I dislike all forms of religion and sometimes it give me a headache but I doubt god is going to change that anytime soon so I just deal with it and carry on with life. *take note god, my protest has been registered"

I read before one or two "infographists" giving us some lessons about how much the new icons are really more clear and more usefull and were perfectly in harmony with the rules of infographism. I don't know what "rules of infographism" are but i know and teach at the university what are the rules which organize the human perception. There's a tonne of books on the topic of icons and symbols (especially Bertin on the use of graphicals feature to help to classification). And color is just one of the most important feature in the process of human cognitive recognition of the meaning of any picture or object. The color removal on icons is probably very satisfying for the well being of some infographists, but absolutely counterintuitive for the final users : the players.

To me, the icons are already a lot better than the old ones.

I just started, so I had like a month or so to get used to the old ones- and I still kept clicking on the wrong ones or having to wait for the label to show up.

With the new ones, I'm recognising the simpler shapes quicker, and overall it just looks modern.

PiratePiratePirate BUT having said that..

Colours would definitely help! This idea of "removing colours so you can focus on shapes.." is nonsense- that's not how the human brain operates "oh no, there's a colour, now I can't see the shape.." WTF? No, both are important! Mac OSX perpetrated the same BS in the finder sidebar. Sure you get used to it, and maybe it helps the overall "look" of the OS, but it hurts usability!

Listen, I'm not saying they should be bright crayon-colored icons. Just some subtle colours.. I think someone posted a mockup here already that looked good.

Patch notes for Rhea 1.3
Release on Tuesday, December 16, 2014

And what do we see? In the interface, nothing has changed, the same dark background windows and still have to strain your eyes and spoil vision to something to consider.
- Where light colors for the background, which were before?
- Where RGB color selection?

- And most importantly - where the answer to the question CCP many players: they are going to change the interface or not?

Therefore, we take very skeptical to the words: "Also, rest assured that every post is read by CCP".

Not all, but many.
Read the forum, many asked to add a light background window or RGB color selection.
No need to remove the changes that have been made recently. It would be nice if the developers just added some color schemes, to make it comfortable to play all players.

Asking them to add more color schemes is definitely a reasonable request, but if you haven't already done so you should be specific about what you want.

One week later:

IT'S STILL HORRIBLE.

Sorry.

Yep, same for me, after playing eve for most of this past week.
Yes, the new UI technically works, but my main issues have not changed.

I'm used to the UI now, however, my eyes do still NOT magically see low contrast shapes faster then simple color
"cyan, near top left" will always be faster to locate then "tiny factory thing, near top left"

The slow fade has gone from many areas(thank you for that CCP) but it's still there in others, like when I sell things.

I still don't like the "selected window" transparency change, I still want one setting for everything, so the windows are consistent.(and i wish for nothing to ever change transparency without me manually setting transparency)

Oh, and the color theme options, although very cool, especially the auto ship theme thing, still simply CANT give me the settings I would find optimal, I need TWO sliders for that.

All in all, my biggest issue here, so color, and CONTRAST.

Seriously CCP, I would like an answer to this, if nothing else:
Why is the entire UI now LOW CONTRAST?

I know high contrast isn't always pretty, but it's generally more functional in my experience as a user.

Last but not least, I suspect some dramatic performance loss in some situations with this patch, on my secondary comp, but cant verify because this is an MMO and I cant boot up the old version for an FPS test.

I personally like the new UI very much. CCP: bravo! Although I feel that RGB sliders for the UI should come back, presets are bound to be too few for at least someone.
Also like the new icons, I'm all for minimalist style. Took 5 minutes tops to adapt to the new shapes, they are telling enough.

Need more well-formatted linking.
