Masuat’aa Matari Red Book

In line with the 10 year celebrations it has been agreed that selected portions of the Masuat’aa Warrior Code a.k.a the Red Book be declassified and shared. This is given to every recruit on initiation. With this in mind over the coming four weeks these selected portions will be published to the I.G.S. as part information part history, and will hopefully contribute to a wider understanding of -MM- .This second extract concerns the nature of the war against slavery.

The first section can be found here;

The Long War

“Our revenge will be the laughter of our children”

The Masuat’aa is currently engaged in a military effort that has been characterized as the “long war.” The long war has been described by some as an epic struggle against adversaries bent on forming a unified Amarrian cluster. While the Minmatar bear the brunt of this struggle be clear that the religious imperative behind slavery has only one illogical conclusion and that it the enslavement of ALL. To understand the impacts that this long war will have on the Ushra’Khan, Masuat’aa and on Freedom Forces in general, it is necessary to understand more precisely what the long war is.

Put simply the long war is a battle of will. This battle has many fronts and while the warrior’s mind will be foremost on confrontation with the enemy it starts first inside the soul of each of us. To fight the long war you must be prepared.

Be prepared to fight and know how to fight.

Morale

“War is not only a matter of equipment, resources, group troops or fleet; it is largely a matter of morale”

The long war will see many defeats as well as successes and you must be able to put aside the temptation to revel in the emotions associated with each.

False Hope and False Despair are one and the same. False.

To win the long war means resilience. Victory will come to those who can endure the most.

Be sure that the enemy knows the importance of morale and will attempt to undermine ours at every turn. High morale is the most important quality of a Warrior. It is a quality of mind and spirit, which combines courage, self-discipline, and endurance. It springs from infinitely varying and sometimes contradictory sources, but is easily recognizable.

In time of war, it manifests itself in the Warrior's absolute determination to do his duty to the best of his ability in any circumstances.

Every individual has their part to play in sustaining morale.

War of the flea

“The guerrilla fights the war of the flea, and his military enemy suffers the dog’s disadvantages: too much to defend; too small, ubiquitous, and agile an enemy to come to grips with."

To fight the long war the warrior must first understand the concept of the ‘little’ or guerilla war. This has come to be known as the war of the flea.

This form of combat has deep roots within the Matari and was used extensively during the Great Rebellion and has been adopted doctrine by both the Republic Fleet and Capsuleer Organisations. It can be seen in the design and purpose of our ships.

Our enemy is large in size, organized, disciplined and capable. However, these attributes can be turned against them. The strategy and tactics of guerrilla warfare focus around the use of a small, mobile force competing against a larger, more unwieldy one.The guerrilla focuses on organizing in small units, striking quickly, as well as taking advantage of space and circumstance more accommodating of small units.

With size and discipline comes slowness. Use this to your advantage. Break into multiple small vectors of attack. Hit and run. Confuse. This is the way.

We Come For Our People.

War and death make people, who come with weapons.
Your people are obsessed with it, your primitive urge to avenge, to kill and to destroy even those, who don't relate to your troubles is really disturbing.

Put your weapons down for a moment and think. If you continue war, you will spill lots of blood of your people. Is this what you want?

There is always a road to the peace, to preserve your people, your land, your cities. Enough of senseless destruction. Turn yourself to God, and let Him guide you away from unnecessary violence.

We will be ruled by ourselves and only ourselves. We kill only those that would have it otherwise. The violence we commit against the empire of slavers is hardly senseless; we know exactly what we are doing. Do not think for a second that we will lay down our arms before every last man, woman and child enslaved by the Ammar is free.

You attempt to justify your abuses by a morality that your society created from thin air to support an evil, easy path. Rather than grow and evolve, you consume the lives of others as a pack of sobaki boars uproots an oasis. Your flawed way of life weakens your culture and the galaxy around you with each passing moment. Nothing you say to discredit our struggle can be justified; you are a cancer in the body of humanity. Like a blade, we will cut you out.

It certainly is easier to strike out over slights of the past than to make any headway into the future, isn't it Mr Sulla? Never mind that it causes your own people as much or more grief than it does the 'enemy'.

You're not returning anything with interest, from what I've seen, all you're doing is laying in more and more debt for your own people. I wonder that they haven't already let you know that they're sick of cashing cheques that you write in their name.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

The past? From when I started this message until it ends, countless of my people will have suffered under Empire abuse. Countless will have been born into a life of subjugation, indoctrination, suffering and bondage. Countless will have died, having known nothing but Empire domination for their entire lives.

If there is a need for current or even future causes for the fight, they are numerous beyond counting and every single one of them demands action. The slights of the right now are unjustifiable and there is no response too severe in response to them. The slights of the past are simply better documented.

I wonder how you would have responded if it was your own that suffered, Pieter. Perhaps it would be a bit harder to fight in the name of those who commit the atrocities this very moment.

We're not your people.

You claiming ownership over the Minmatar in the Empire is only placing you on the same level as the people you are fighting against.

They're certainly my people. Born with me. Raised with me. While I may not be Matari any more than you are, little kin, I certainly have as much kinship with those remaining in bondage as you do. The fact of the matter is that if even one of them desire something other than enslavement then there is a cause to fight for.

There are only two ways to end this. End slavery or end us.

We're immortal.

The path to peace should be obvious.

Ah, now I see who you really are.
This is like from old child tales, where Forces of Chaos and Forces of Order are fighting against each other.
Forces of Order build great ships and great things and defend them with all their might, while Forces of Chaos bring just freedom and destruction.

Honored are the dead, for their legacy guides us.

Chaos ? How did we ever build one of the most advanced civilizations pre our encounter with the Amarr slave fleets. This sneering you see from outside the tribes is laughable.

A likely response from a traitor. You were not born into slavery, maulaa. You chose your chains. The millions upon millions of Matari under the rule of the empire had no such luxury. Do not dare to lecture us on kinship, or "ownership" as you put it - your time amongst the slavers has already warped your perception. You are not of our people. You are a slaver. And you will suffer as one.

I was born into slavery, Mr. Gangari.

I am not of your people, no. Because my people are the Minmatar in the Empire, the slaves and former slaves still living here. Not people like you, who have never known slavery but still rally against it as if you know any better for us than the Amarr do.
