Why hate the miners?
Why hate WoW?

Don't know, it seems like a EvE ritual for me.
All ships in EvE are build by players with some little exceptions, like AT Wins and Aniversery stuff. Every resource for those ships has to be retrieved.

Remembering that:
Even codies have mining alts. Some are naive believers, some other codies do it to reduce comeptition. Goons and other aliances? They have their own mining fleets.

Why the hate?
It is easier to sanctify killing defensless victims, if you put some reason behind it.
so the lame code excuses:
beginners have to learn.
hisecminers destroy the market.
everything is fair game.
this is pvp and miners have to be aware of that and have no right to be upset.

and on and on.

Miners can be proud, because they don't give up, even when they are hunted by idio-not so smart people to afraid to go to losec them self.

You misinterpret "getting blown up", as "they hate me specifically". In my case, it's nothing personal. You're in an unarmed ship I can reasonably expect to explode. Blowing you (and your pod) up creates the sudden new demand for a mining ship, mining fittings, and implants.

Take a wild guess what I'm selling on an alt a couple systems over, at only 10% above Jita.

THIS.... in capital letters.

It has nothing to do with how you play the game. It has nothing to do with "hate", and it SURE as hell has nothing to do with "CODE" and there ridiculous manifesto.

They don't even believe what they are spouting. They get paid to do it...... PAID WELL to do it. Look at their site.... where do you think all that money comes from....

The big null-bear alliances, the ship-makers, and the traders. Anyone who benefits from high mineral prices, high-ship prices, and chasing new miners, new manufactures, and new "competition" out of the game.

It's like the first episode of Justified.

Null Sec mining done right is safer than High Sec mining.

I have a long list of people. There are regular reds, there are old war targets to pick on one day, there are really slimy people that right at the top of the list but only one is in a special category.

He used to seed books in a low sec system, knowing which ones the newbies would need next and he would sit on that gate and kill them day in and day out. I am quite sure we lost a lot of players to that guy because they thought that was what EVE was about.
I nearly quit.

Anyway, fast forward six months or so and I make a good friend, they have multiple toons, loads of ISK, etc and are bored. I mention this guy, we buy some pilots, get in his alliance and tore it apart. It was so simple really. The things people say about each other when they are offline, especially in an overly competitive machismo group, was perfect fuel for a fire.

TL;DR - There are too many d-bags to get revenge on them all and EVE mechanics are in their favour.

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

More likely that you are "usefull idio-no-so-smart people" keeping competition down.

So it is!
The "battle" is more "fair" since both sides have the same restrictions and hisec mechanics can not be abused so much.

The intel from 5 systems away doesn't hurt either. Can actually get safe before interceptors get on top of you.

Hi All,

As a miner, i come across this all the time, but what i don't understand is, why so much hate towards miners?

Eve is a sandbox that every game wants to be, where people get to make there own stories, it's not whole PVP, PVE or whatever.

So why the hate? QuestionQuestion

Some people just want to pad their killboards with easy kills. Most just lack any true pvp skill and go after miners to compensate. Its almost like someone baiting noobs in a starter system and thinking thats good pvp.

As a miner, you just have to adapt. Dont go afk. Pay attention to overview. Watch dscan. And always stay aligned. Warp the second anything potentially hostile shows up. And keep plenty of replacement ships in hangar.

I mine a lot when im not out hunting. I haven't lost a ship while mining since I was a noob back in 2010. Its not hard to avoid losing a ship. Just use common sense.

Indeed!

I lost quite some ships, but none of them to gankers.
As a newb i lost 2 ventures to afk mining and rats and the rest to pvp guys better than me.

Besides it being "whole PvP" and you not understanding what PvP means,
the hate on miners simply is a part of the sandbox.

that doesn't explain why though?

Why? For the same reason that 4th grader just got beat up by the five 7th graders. The difference is, in EVE, if you cry about it you'll just beat up again tomorrow.

Is it right? Nah, and yah the over-harassment of miners does make us lose some subs with new players. All you can do is pity the "players" that would rather pick on a HS miner instead of a PVPer.

I rather pity the "player" who mines, while not actually contributing anything valueable to the game.

A miner who unsubs is a miner no one needed. He never cared enough about playing,
he never cared about understanding that it was his choice to get shot at to begin with,

And that, sir, makes you a real (and adult) EVE Online player. I do a lot of PVE of various types, I've also never felt any hate because of that.

Now, coming onto the forum and advocating self-reliance, intelligence and a sense personal responsibility while calling out whiny entitled juveniles who should have never chosen a game like this in the 1st place? Yea, you do get a lot of hate for that Twisted
