So after 4 years of a personal boycott against EAGames (they treat their customers worse than dirt), I decided to buy Battlefield 3 so I could play it with friends.

My god, this game is terrible. Sure its pretty, but the entire thing felt half-ass (even more half-ass than this post). Going through the campaign, every gun fight was EXACTLY THE SAME. AI was a complete joke. Now I know this isn't a single player game, but I was still disappointed.

And the multiplayer, I can't stand it. The combination of amazing full auto accuracy at 200m out, a tagging system that makes it difficult to hide/play sneakily, you can't play competitively or even make a difference on the battlefield unless you have 20+ hours of in-game play time (and this isn't from experience, but because of the unlocks you need).

I still think Battlefield 2 is a better game. BF3 just doesn't feel right, and I should have known better....

This sounds like a First Person Shooter.

BF3 is ok, I have it, I had a good bit of fun redecorating a building (read, blowing up) with a tank. I do 100% understand your complaint with it though, I noticed the stink of EA on it the second I opened it up on my ps3 and had to fill out a bunch of stuff to get access to the multiplayer, and the singleplayer is a steaming pile of crap (not to mention the fact that it doesn't work if you're not connected to the internet).

But yeah, good rule of thumb, don't buy EA games unless you hear it's fantastic. I don't even plan on buying mass effect 3 until I hear that the game is actually a 10/10.

The single player is there to get you used to the controls for multiplayer, as that's what the entire BF series is

I didn't think BF2 or BF2142 had single player options even available..

Theres just nothing impressive with the game.

They didn't, BF3 was showing off its new Frostbite 2 engine

Are you playing on a console?
BF3 is overrated anyway.

i think the single player in Bad Company 1 was more compelling. I mean it was a mix of the Italian job, Oceans 11 and The Longest Day.

BF3 is amazing, sorry you prob suck at it thus coming to the forums to single it out and moan.

All the guns in the game have their uses and feel, it depends how you use them. This is not a game of run and gun CoD or whoever has the first draw wins.

Epic game that has lots of lols and fun, takes skill, I recommend for PC.

Emphasis on "buy", choosing to ignore the "hear" and read "try" instead. Twisted

I have years (and years) of CS dating from 1.3, time spent playing DOD, FA mod(the original, new one is bad), BF 2, etc. I'm reasonably good.

But when an M4 is going full auto (which in RL mine wasn't full auto) just spraying away at me with utmost accuracy 50-100m away? CCQ courses are quick reaction courses, most ranges between 3-10m within buildings, and nailing them quickly isn't too hard. But BF3 the guns are way too accurate, and being spammed with rocket launchers inside buildings- I didn't think BF3=TF2, (assuming B does not equal (2T/3).

BF3 isnt about Realismn, its about fun :)

and that probably comes down to personal taste.
You should try a Hardcore server without 3D tagging, crosshairs and first person view for vehicles only. completly different experience

BF3 is great fun, and there are unranked servers now where everything is unlocked.

Sounds like you had to buy Arma 2. But that would bring another problems.

To be, or not to be, that's the question.

lmfao, I thought the same thing. In real life, if you try launch an RPG inside a building, you die along with your target.

Not to mention that I heard they nerfed the noob tube in BF3. They totally didn't. Noob tube is alive and well.

Funny cause in Bf2 I thought the guns weren't accurate for ****. Sounds like you're just more of a counter strike guy. (And I could complain all day about CS) As for sneaking... prone helps, or not going head long into battle rather flanking and using "hard" cover. Sounds like you're getting your ass kicked... which is to be expected for any new game.

Furthermore the first weapons you get are actually rather good. M16 is accurate, m27iar is way faster, and more accurate than the other heavier MG's. MK11 I find to be more useful unless it's super long sniping. I suppose some of the Russian starting guns aren't as great...Or just their optics suck (SVD, ak 74)

But meh maybe it's just not your thing
