It's VERY annoying to need to wait for the fade effect if you are doing something that causes a lot of those popups.
I just want the selection box immediately thanks, fancy effects that slow things down, are NOT welcome.

Also I, like many others, am completely unable to change any keybinds.

It's not bad if it only happens once, but multiple times in succession makes me not want to look at the screen anymore.

Yup. As someone who's using the Market Sell/Buy + Contracts System all the time, it just feels like a big time waster.

For the Dark Matter color theme, it's very hard to tell what is selected in the overview. Can we get this tweeked a bit?

Example: http://i.imgur.com/altXdGq.png

I have the Medium Beam Laser about halfway down selected, it's nearly impossible to tell though.

My theme settings: http://i.imgur.com/bJ0bI32.png (you have a hard time telling Dark Matter is selected here too)

Love the patch, only complaint I have is the new see through windows. It is wayy too hard to read text with multiple windows open. Please let us change it back to non transparent!!!

I miss the market view icon on the sale gui. Meaning, I select an item to sell and the sell gui pops up. To get the current market view I have to do that on the item in the right click menu instead of quickly hitting the market icon on the sell gui. The modify order gui still has the market view icon on it thank goodness.

It is still there, but for some reason CCP decided to hide the icon. If you click on the little green/red up/down percentage deviation thingamy, to the right of the price, it pops up the regional market display for the item.

I didn't mind so much when CCP quietly produced shoddy work and we just had to get on with adapting to it. I'm less impressed now that I have to endure their insufferable, amateurish hyping before having to adapt to the same shoddy standard of work. It makes a mockery of the preaching that CCP has been doing about UI design when newly introduced UI elements fail to meet even the most basic UI design standards and are not even consistent with other new UI elements.

My first thought when I saw most of the new amarr ships was "Wait, they were supposed to be golden??"

Phew, I'm glad my slicer has stayed somewhat un-shiny.

Too much gold for amarr (and shiny in general) for me - but that's just my personal opinion Roll

Overall I like the UI changes. I like the new icons better than the old ones. Even though they lack color, I find them more distinguishable. There is one thing that drives me nuts about the new icons, however. There appear to be two styles -- 1) one with a lighter gradient at the bottom and a dark border along the top and the left and 2) the other with a light gradient at the side. The ones with the light gradient at the side fit seamlessly together whereas the first type do not. When the first type of icon follows the second, it appears to be "crooked" (looks shifted a pixel to the right because that is where the gradient starts). When two of the second types show up together, they look like distinct buttons because of the dark border and discontinuity in the gradient.

The beta map is beautiful -- I like where that is going.

One thing that comes to mind looking at the UI is that I was really looking forward to seeing the guiding principle of "everything painted with light". I think the beta map is a great example of that. I also like the glow effect on the chat tabs -- I think that also has that feel of painted with light. The icons are closer to that than the previous icons (especially when you have the seamless second type of icons together); however, although I like them better, I think they fell short in this area. I think some of the UI and holographic images in the captains quarters and the ISIS UI are much better examples of that "painted with light" feel and would have liked to see the icons have a similar feel.

The new monochrome icons are truly awful. Colour helps distinguish between them in a big way, and removing it has diminished their utility. Bring back the colour.

Having played a bit more with the GUI some more comments

Icons, probably a lot of the issue has to do with size, if you expand the neocom to max they are quite easy to see and
differentiate, but if(like me) you keep it small in order to show all buttons(i am a sucker for putting buttons on it ...)
they tend to be a lot harder to differentiate, one possible solution would be to allow people to add custom
background colors to them, not so much for differentiation as for separation, ie you make one red and know which
one, then you also know that the one above/below are, and so on.

Color presets, personally i have been able to find one or two of the darker that was about the same as i had
them before(blur off transparancy 0), but regardless of which color preset i choose the o _ X in the upper right hand corner
are invisible until i mouse over the window, and even then they are real hard to see making opening a window
a liability since closing it quickly(without using keyboard shortcuts) becomes a game of putting the tail on the donkey
while blindfolded, that is i have to run the mouse up to where i think the button is, wait for the popup to see that i
hit the right one, and then press it.

Window fading/highlighting, as have been stated by quite a few posts before it does get to be a bit silly once you
open up more than 1-2 windows and this being EvE who does not run around with more than that from time to time.

Also character selection screen seems to have a fixed color scheme regardless of which you choose.

From the perspective of someone who is getting into the age(46) where eyesight is no longer as sharp as
it used to be the GUI has become slightly harder to use. Some contrasts are simply to weak to be easy
discernible and some backgrounds tend to wash out the UI(old problem but one that has if not been made
worse then at least still is as bad as before). It would be real nice if we could either get some way to set
contrast ourselves, or at least a few presets where things like window edges/buttons are clearly visible
without changing the actual color schemes.

Main thing is that the Dev's are keeping us informed of their thoughts and how they are going to fix this cr4p.

I mean, its only 4 days since their last response.

Thanks CCP for not keeping us in the dark. Awesome.

I think CCP has done a fantastic job with this years updates progress has been very strong. I am really excited to think where EVE could be this time next year!

Physical based rendering and the new UI have both been the right move in my opinion.

UI, maybe.. the icons need work...
PBR.... not so much...
4K resolution see if you can spot the aliasing. It's not hard.

It's like it renders in 1:2 then up-scales it to 1:1 in order to save performance and it looks horrific. Ugh

Edit: No it's not zoomed at all.

When you click on a flashing tab on your chat channels, all tabs stop flashing.

This should not happen.

I got this graphics bug (?) I've never seen before. The black pixels around the sigs is what I'm pointing at (the chat windows I blurred myself obviously :P)

Anyone got a hint on how to get rid of these?

Thinking about it, this seems like a case of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing.
They say all of those icon changes are to make the interface faster, and simpler,
And here in another place, we added an element that slows things down, but is very pretty.

OK I’m colour blind so my results may differ from yours but these are my finding so far.

Depending on where in the house I wish to play Eve I have the use of 3 different systems.

My ‘normal’ machine used for gaming and video editing is a reasonable fitted machine, AMD 6 Core, 3.5 with 8 GB DDR3 1866 and a Geforce GTX 760. This has a 1080P 16 * 9 monitor and on this Eve looks ‘OK’ it runs sort of ‘reasonable’ and the ships can look a bit ‘washed out’, the opened Windows when overlapped are difficult to distinguish and under ‘bleed through’ can make reading top window text difficult.

My backup machine which has an older AMD quad core, an older GTX GPU (sorry can’t remember the number), 4 Gigs of slower memory and a 16 * 10 monitor runs Eve like a dream. The colours are excellent, the ships look, well like ships with vibrant colours and the smallest details show up just as they should. The overlapping windows are clear and precise, the top bars visible and even the little – and x are easy to see.

My last system is a Dual Core laptop, 1366 * 768 (an older Dell) running Windows 8.1, now this little machine used to play Eve like the gaming machine above ‘OK ish’ but now, well the least said the better.
The ships look like mud, and the overlapping windows are just a jumbled mushy mess. It is almost impossible to play on this machine now except to check stuff and adjust my skill queue.

So it seems the somewhat differing views of some players on how good or bad the new UI and game looks to them may be influenced by the system and monitor the game is actually playing on as well as the settings within the game. In case you are wondering both machines above are using the same settings, only the laptop has to use lower settings (mostly so the game will run). Why do my two machines differ, I have no idea other than the difference in the monitors, should I get time I might try swapping the monitors to see if the results change.

Anyway some food for thought.

I really like the Rhea changes.
PBR looks totally awesome!

The monochrome icons are a bit... weird. Their shapes are definitively more distinguishable than before, but removing the color sort of nullified that improvement. (unless you're a colorblind person, I guess)
Maybe add a little bit of color back in?

The new UI is a disaster. Just try moving someone in a fleet now. Chances are you'll move the entire ******* squad! Players WILL die because of this. I'd actually call this a BUG but I'm sure it's "working as designed".

CCP, this is NOT Wildstar! Don't go down the same path!
