I just logged in after 2 weeks, the startup screen looks ok, the launcher is using cpu cycles,, but the progress bar stays grey.
Either downloading takes a long time or something is wrong.

I am currently using:
wine 1.5.31
debian wheezy
nvidia 304.117-1

Any chance I need to update something?
Or would a fresh install of EVE be advisable?

Scratch that.
After waiting some time and then nicely stopping and restarting the launcher EVE seems to have been updated fine.
It was just the launcher not showing that the update was done.

Still, you really want to update wine. There are so many improvements over 1.5.31.

I have a fruit cup and I'm not afraid to use it.

Ok, compiled wine 1.7.33 and things seem to work, even sound.
Previously sound always required custom wine configuration shenanigans to get it to work.
So, yayLol

Move mouse on progress bar in lancer -> progress bar increases.

Really you want to be running wine version 1.7 as it fixes so many things. Wine 1.5 might work, but the launcher likely won't run and you have to run the exe directily. Wine 1.6 better, but suspect the launcher still won't work. The only that doesn't work in 1.7 is walking in station and that feature is useless.

1.6 has launcher issues, but I consider it the minimum these days. 1.7 anything is better.
