Mobile depot for exploration

Just quick question, when do you explore, do you have mobile depot anchored in some backwater system to stash loot and stuff? If so, is it 'Yurt' Mobile Depot worth the investment? Will anyone actually bother to scan it down? Or is the regular one good enough since it reinforces and you just check it often enough?

Well, i have one with me to switch around some modules and refill drones. But i never let it in space. I drop it, switch the modules and pull it in again.

So i can not tell you if some scan these down and shoot them for fun. But this is eve.... If someone can shoot something, they will do.

Mobile depot in exploration might be not that good idea. If you do it in cov ops, you are more or less capable of returning to the starting point. If you are not, you are probably using wormhole pipes to quickly change spaces and again, using depot is ill-advised. To top it off, explo loot is not that bulky.

It do makes sense if you are grinding crosses while being in hostile null, assuming you can get a transport for that. From the other side, nothing prevents you from keeping a char in industrial logged off with depot inside just in case if you'll need to swap drones/rep yourself.

What comes to safety of this thing, shooting it is not even remotely funny. Unlike POSes, it seems that this thing restores shield after quitting the reinforced mode. There is simply no point in holding it 24/7 outside of dirt cheap advertisement.

I try to carry a refit to tank on my exploration ships, just so that I can do the new sleeper sites.

Depots can and will be probed down, I scoop them up after use. If you just want ammo stashes at a safe spot use secure containers.
