The amount of data, in the long run, is unmanageable.

These are only ideas for clothing and character creator, posted by players, CCP wil not make everything and expecting from them to do that would be stupid. They have their own minds to decide.

Sol Project wrote:
Second, I consider it a waste of precious time with the devs

Taking information just from the dev's isn't a waste of precious time, more time would be wasted if someone would bother thinking why they don't make clothing or character creator updates or WiS just now.

Sol Project wrote:
It is unproductive and inefficient at what it's about: Making CCP money.

If you are talking about clothing and microtransactions in general than Aurum is bought for money, the microtransactions are business and it should make money, but how much? Can be enough to support steady stream of clothes? Do they have finance plans for microtransactions that they have to accomplish? Do they have their own plans?

Sol Project wrote:
Calling it "clothing workshop" and then telling them "what we want" which is
only a selected few anyway is ... a waste of precious devtime!

Maybe its just what we want and its for making their plan easier to fulfill? Players can act as devs advisors sometimes, especially on a topic like that, with devs that may work on clothing.

Sol Project wrote:
Bullshit way for a company to have players list random stuff they want
or have one person notoriously try to shove it down their throat. *cough*

Again, these are only propositions. Actual discussion can take the clothing options as for their themes, like hats or beards, what are technical limitations etc..

there's no smooth connection with release cycles,
there's no structure behind it.

Maybe devs would provide information about their plans, maybe they have something for us already?

Sol Project wrote:
It's a freaking mess.

There is mess here, but in actual discussion with devs, the pople should stick to the discussion plan with certain topics about certain clothing or character creation options.

Sol Project wrote:
In the long run, we're not helping CCP making money efficiently.

By discussing ideas we can help devs understand player needs.
You may be wrong or right, but for now only devs know how often their work is monetized in NeX store and if they have some more options for us in the future.

Sol Project wrote:
CCP has shown that they understand the importance of customisation, (to make money, which is good)
so I would rather want to *step up the game*.

You are not talking about something like WiS, do you?
Stepping a game to the point when our legs are visible, and we can show ourselves to everyone in full, in a place where everyone will see us?

Sol Project wrote:
TL;DR:

Even if thousands of people cast votes,
add a gazillion ideas about what they want
and CCP simply works through the list from top to bottom ...

... in the end it's not a good way of helping CCP making money ...
... and it's pretty much a huge waste of devtime anyway.

Even if players are inclined to spent money in NeX store for clothes? What is the hard data?

For some reason the title of this thread looked to me like, 'Clothing Worship'.

After reading a few pages, I think it was just my psychic abilities manifesting themselves since that's exactly what a lot of it is.

Thank you for your response. I have read through it,
but I have a really hard time figuring out a proper response to it ... so I won't.

You totally have points there, but I feel like you are missing quite a lot.
Which isn't your fault at all. I feel more like we're talking about different things.
Kind of. Not sure how to explain it. Like ... I have no idea how to explain it to you.

Either way, I feel like my posts were a waste of time,
as what matters is talking to the relevant people anyway.

For real progress.

Again: Thank you for your response.

Destructible Clothing.

Destructible Clothing.

Destructible Clothing.

Destructible Clothing.

Destructible Clothing.

Bunny ears, top hats, garter belts, corn-cob pipes......whatever yer heart desires......Just make it blow up with your active clone
when you get podded.

( Yes I know you are in a tub of goo, but you disrobed before you stepped into it, no? )

This would seriously add another consumable commodity to the market, and a damn interesting one at that.

Besides: who wouldn't want to own a BPO for thigh high hooker boots? Or a Veldspar cod-piece?

I'll be unavailable on the 15th, but if someone could please bring up the suggestion of Destructible Clothing, I wear I'll do
three random acts of kindness in their name to help fill their karma bank.

Made updates to the the poll (if you haven't voted, go vote now!).

Also, 60 respondents! Not too shabby for a few hours. We still have a couple days yet. Beards really, really, really seem to have pulled forward, considered they were a late entry.

Azda: I think your Tank Girl suggestions falls under military outfits. I already have the classic EVE looks covered in the options.

Bagrat and Kel Kun: I think everything you've mentioned is present.

John Dekker: added button-down suits or tuxedos. I think the "picture book" idea is probably better off in an F&I thread of its own. What do you think?

Dersen Lowery: Added NES store preview enhancement as a request

Wedrika: Fingerless gloves already on list, thanks!

Unezka: Added tattoos idea to list. I think medals/patches as accessories covers the patchy jacket. Beards and long hair for men already on list.

Dan: Destructible clothing already on list. Go vote for it!

Joffy Aulx-Gao for CSM. Fix links and OGB. Ban stabs from plexes. Fulfill karmic justice.

A few ideas:

  • Necklaces - Dogtags specifically (considering they are already a part of the game it seems a shame not to have a visual representation.) You, of course, could expand the idea to eve religious symbols, faction specific, etc
  • Earrings - a little more variety
  • Rings - Sure, they'd only be seen in the full view but still...

...which brings me to the one thing I'm most interested in - Full View backgrounds and lighting.

Since we can influence every other aspect of how other's see our character, it would be appreciated if we could in the full view too.
I appreciated the fact you have improved the zoom/move functionality of this window (just so you know, I have noticed Blink) but when it comes to character viewing it still needs work.
Eg: Pet peeve - the lighting presumes I have no hair and lights my face accordingly, so my face is lit up under my hair. To top it off, that is some garish lighting!
Are we in a line-up?
If so, I'm innocent. I didn't steal your Leopard... You have the wrong Brutor!!

...uhhh, what was I saying?
Oh yeah -

Ideas on how to improve it:

  • Make it possible to move & change the light source, tint, intensity, etc
  • Make it possible to change the background
  • Come to think of it, at minimal, similar functionality as the avatar snapshot creation

As far as clothes are concerned, I would be interested to see the ability to change colours & symbols of specific parts of clothing instead of colour & symbols being locked to one particular piece of clothing.
eg: boot & boot strap colours; t-shirt colours, symbols & edging colours; belt colours & belt buckle designs; etc.

Thank you for your consideration o7

One word...NIPPLES!!

This catsuit I'm wearing is tighter than the one Catherine Zeta-Jones wears in the movie Entrapment with Sean Connery, and yet I see no visible nipples poking through.

An outfit this tight in RL would surely show off some nip poking through the material.

And for all of the prudes out there, I was joking.

In all honesty though, being able to see nipples poke out when wearing really tight tops/shirts/catsuits would be sexy as hell.

It's so good to see the CSMs are involved in more than just cosmetics....
contrary to what the naysayers said they would be.

The more unfocused this list is, the less benefits it will provide..
Pure wishlisting can go on forever.

Everyone one wants more hairstyles and more stuff in general. But you only have one hour to talk to CCP and you have to make it count.

I assume they already have a fairly good idea what kinds of clothing items people want more of, based on what is being bought in NES.
So the feedback they're lacking is really what kinds of clothing have they missed? What isn't being represented?
I'm not into R&D but I support the idea of adding labcoats and such for the sake of diversity. We need more clothing to define various professions.

Maybe you could actually ask CCP for a blogpost centered on clothing, because I'd love to see some statistics and hear their ideas for the future. EVE is just as much about Characters as it is about space ships.

this needs to be done, excellent idea corbexx!

I'd ask to join the conversation too but I don't think I have anything to add to it P

Players need much more freedom with options. the most advanced character creator in existence today does not have enough content to show it.

This is already getting out of hand, hahahaha.

On the upside though, this chaos can be shifted into an higher order.
There's a lot of meta information hidden and it's extremely usefull.

Edit: Oh, what seems to be rather popular among the more sexually and seductive oriented people ...

Collars!

With or without ornaments, keylocks (yes, keylocks ......), jewelry, plain, etc.

Just throwing this in here to add a bit to the chaos.

stuff has gone a bit wild but thats not a issue. i can show ccp the data, and people will be on comms to explain about why they want stuff which is potenitially more important.

You're dealing with several years of pent-up demand which CCP's silence has only fed, so it's not terribly surprising.

Well that, and people like me who find the idea that t-shirts and cargo pants are the de facto clothing style for an entire cluster to be incredibly lazy...
