Various pilots who've been exploring the newly-opened wormhole systems have begun charting and cataloguing their finds. One particularly thorough explorer has provided us images of Sansha battlestations, a destroyed Revenant, and other Sansha facilities alongside Sleeper ruins. Link here, with all credit to pilot Straevaras.

So. Sansha studied Talocan then someone came and kicked them in the butt. Who should I thank?

You might want to include Talocan abandoned ships into this puzzle.

I have found one Talocan Embarkment Destroyer in newly shattered wormhole.

"This Talocan ship wreckage drifts in space with surprising grace and efficiency. Even completely offline and abandoned, the

embarkment destroyer appears to have been created for just this function, or at least for survival across vast stretches of

unknown space for extended periods of time. Despite its incapacitated status, the wreckage looks sturdy enough to be rebuilt;

perhaps its appearance is merely a ruse, a trap set long ago by a dead civilization. Regardless, caution is recommended."

Some ponderances and theorising I've done that people might find useful - or not.

Firstly, Nation vessels deployed to these areas seem to be a mix of "old Sansha" (i.e. ships possessing the "Centii" designation) and "new Sansha" (i.e. ships possessing a designation consisting of an abduction site and a section of the brain, such as "Romi Thalamus"), which would suggest that either there is some limitation to the number of the significantly more powerful and dangerous "new Sansha" that the Nation can afford to deploy to the unknown regions, or that there is some other compelling reason to occupy primarily with older, less powerful vessels. We drift into the realm of hypothesis, but perhaps the Nation is worried the Sleepers might reverse-engineer the more advanced technologies of "new Sansha?"

I think for a long time now we've been operating under the assumption that the resurgent Nation's "new Sansha" are based at least partially on principles and discoveries made from the reverse-engineering of Sleeper technology. It would explain the vastly superior offensive, defensive and logistical systems that Sansha seen in incursions seem to possess when compared to Centii or "old" Sansha, especially since they seem to roughly resemble the offensive and defensive capabilities of Sleeper drones. It now seems plausible that these systems we're now witnessing are where they harvested these technologies.

These systems look like they've been occupied by the Nation's forces for some time - this is not a development that occured in the past couple of days since the new wormholes opened. Nation have been there long enough for some of their stations to have fallen to ruin - we should assume that they've been there at least since the wormholes opened after the Seyllin Incident, and although unlikely, it's not beyond the realms of feasibility that they might have been there longer.

I have heard rumours some of the wormholes leading to these new systems have unusually small mass limits, allowing nothing larger than a destroyer through - can anyone confirm this?

This makes a great deal of sense. In order to obtain the technology to upgrade their fleet, Sansha's would have had to bring in the older model ships in order to commandeer the structures and make them safe enough to explore and analyze.

In order to crew those ships, they would need more... well, crew. So, logic dictates that once they had enough crew to initiate an incursion, they would then abduct people to convert into new crew.

One could then surmise that something bad happened, resulting in the destruction of their base of operations in w-space. Perhaps thier wormhole generator went hyper-active or something, resulting in the sterilization of dozens of linked systems, similar to the Seyellin incident.

Also, were the Talocan not experts in the field of spatial manipulation? If anyone could have created a stable artificial wormhole generator, it would have been them. I think Nation merely copied what they found.

On an aside, the naming scheme for the incursion fleets does indeed seem to follow 1: site of abduction and 2: a part of the brain. Since the Sanshas are similar to a hive mind, it makes sense that they would all be a part of a single brain, with the specific part indicating what role they play within the whole.
