CCP, is there anything you can do to reduce the size of the core client, perhaps by leaving out non-essential content and making them optional add-ons?

I remember when the Eve Install file was less than 600MB. I could download it in about an hour and a half on dsl.

Now the installer is 4.7GB!!! Shocked

People with cable aren't complaining but I can't afford cable, and I'm sure I speak for a lot of other people who haven't bothered to say anything. It takes a LONG time to d/l 4.7GB @131 kb/s - more than 12 hours!

Texture compression?

Procedurally generated textures would be even better. I suppose some texture sets need to be created manually, but the rest can be generate automatically on the client computer during installation.

Can afford cable, just isn't available in my area!

But yeah, some of the patches are rediculous, reminds me of BF2 patches Roll
