The new UI: It's good overall, but the new icons aren't distinguished enough. They should be more expressive I guess? Maybe switch the whole theme stuff from two colors to three ones and make icons use two colors for more noteable appearance

I have no idea if that has been posted before here or not, I'm certainly not reading 30 pages just to check, sorry for that.
First of all, I love the new UI. Most of all, the "match theme to active ship" function. Finally flying different races feels different :)

Issue 1: Watchlist isn't transparent, makes it look clunky and doesn't add any benefits except being ugly. Like this, why not make it transparent? http://puu.sh/dpjFL/f19c973b06.jpg

Issue 2: Basically the same as watchlist, background in fleetwindow not transparent, very ugly. Also, behind squad leaders, it is transparent - but not behind squad members. Very ugly, and adds no benefit like better readability. Looks like this currently: http://puu.sh/dpjQj/6d3c49d8c3.jpg

Please change :)

Overall, I am very pleased with Rhea. I like the direction the game is going and I understand that this is just one of many steps down the road to making EVE Online an addicting, immersive, and visually stunning game. A hearty "Job Well Done" to all those involved at CCP.

Any change will be met with resistance and this is no different. Most of the complaints about the UI and visuals are a matter of taste and can be customized to some degree. Along those lines, in less than an hour after the patch deployed there were negative comments about the UI. Hardly enough time to gather data to form a coherent and meaningful post.

Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see the sov changes.

In station services panel I keep clicking "industry" button instead of "market" - these look almost identical. At least their small-ish variant I can see. And it takes certain effort to find ship fitting button.

Please, add color coding to the icons (market = green, industry = brown for example) and make them bigger.

With UI scaling set at 90%, the font used on folder tabs (ex. Local and Corp tabs on chat window) has become too small to be easily read on a 15.5" laptop display (yes, some of us like to play on gaming laptops).

The same font seems to be used for tabs (like the Agents, Guests and Offices tabs in the station window) and for buttons (like Apply to Join in the Offices folder). There is no good reason for that font to be so small; there is a lot of empty space surrounding the text in tabs and also surrounding the buttons.

Can you please bump up the font size? I'd estimate that a 30-50% increase in size would be adequate to greatly improve readability

Thank you.

Just like to say I love the new UI. *specially the racial themed colors*

i love the manual movement. *mostly use it for destroyer/cruiser/battlecruiser ships*

Also, the new star map rocks!

Isn't there a "font size" option under general settings?
or, does that not cover everything?
must admit I never tried using it.

Centis Adjani mentioned it in other thread:

" After installing the new patch I changed the monitor setting to "Gaming".
Then lowered the brightness of my Monitor from former 80 down to 5.

Now it looks great."

Thank you, sir! Those plastic ships ... Well, It really looks much better. Like it should be. CCP just adjust a ship texture brightness asap please

okey, now i can adjust every sound i like even my sounds are pretty much disabled anyway.

But i can not set personal colours so i cant see anything really, my eyes are old already.

this does not make much sense overall.

not to mention those new futuristic icons where example contracts is some papyrys scroll... science fiction on its best.

Where can i find my old Cool Gray theme and the lovely colored neocom icons ?

Who got the idea to make something like this ? The guy/girl must be colorblind and must be released from his/hers job.

Before this downdate I could find the icon for the option in the neocom that i wanted to use quickly but now I have to use extra time to find the right one.
Docked at stations I used to use some of the icons in the Station Services but now I have to use a loupe to even find them and again wait to see if it is the right one I'm pointing at.

I used to use the Cool Gray theme slighted modified in the colors and with a transparancy set to 0.
With that option I had a fine balance with gray buttons and a black background in the text fields in my chat etc.

Now I got some backgrounds I cant get black as before and therefor more difficult to read the text in my chat, I got some strange looking tabs and the blinking chat icons are nearly non existing.

Why cant I take for example "Dark Matter" and switch the Gray and the Black colors ?. In that way I think it would be nearer the Cool Gray theme I used to use.

So an option to change the colors instead of the predefined ones could be a solution, otherwise I hope you are giving out free Aspirin for the headache this gives.

Unfortunately the preview on avatar function needs some improvements, when trying the bundle I cannot test all 3 items together, and trying the catsuit while wearing a dress that cannot be removed is pretty useless.

UPDATE

I don't appreciate the items in the store! Evil
It was too late in the night, and I didn't realize how bad those items are made.

And now the game looks GAY. What are you going for? 12 year olds in the shiny ships? or 60 year olds with the crappy 80s fail retro style interface.

This is not what I pay for, How do you think that by taking away great looking images and visual information tiles and replacing them with the same colour boring icons was smart??

*someone fire that guy for stupidity*

The last trailer was amazing with real people talking and a great cross section view of the game. Every non eve person I showed the trailer video was amazed and loved it..

Now im a little embarrassed to tell people I play EVE and what it is!
Now if they try it out and see how childish it looks they wont hang around and they will laugh all the more about me being a one game 8 year gamer paying monthly.

In the 80th there did no GUI like this exist. The screen of a C64 was limited to 16 colors and would look like a cheap icon on your desktop.

You are not paying for the GUI. You pay for playing EVE and enjoying spaceships and not icons and windows. So play it. Nothing really changed here.

Less is more in design is far beyond stupidity.

But the trailer is a commercial not showing the EVE's real gameplay. People will leave disappointed if they expect this but not because of a nice and plain GUI.

Embarrassed because Icons destroyed the concept? I guess you need really a break and find a way back to the important things in life.

The only thing what looks childish here is your strange embarrasing post full of tears. Horrible.

What ever its ugly.

Yes there is more to the game than the GUI but its what it is now.

And yes if you go look at the original space invaders played on the desk style arcade machine you will find almost the same imagery and style for the icons because you are right they only had 16bit colours and thats how eve looks now.

Turning the new UI off bumps my FPS up by about 20. Seems fairly resource hungry for an interface.
