Is it just me, or do the new icons and color schemes suck?

No, friend, you are not alone. I could say hundreds of things about the new UI skin, but it would be wasted time.

The Devs said it themselves with another UI feature: "If we were to see a reaction similar to the reaction triggered by the removal of the start button in Windows 8 I'm sure we would re-evaluate." It's almost like a 'no-****' kind of thing, but yeah.

Colour themes are just fine, but you can't customise them. That makes it effectively worse.

Meh.

After download the new Client and started, my eyes got hurt by the bright font over the transparent Windows.
Chat window, Inventory, etc. is nearly unreadable in this way.

But I figured out how to configure colours and transparency to achieve nearly the look and feel of the former UI.
And achieve it better readable. I will explain this in a separate post later.

The new NeoCom... Yes it sucks. I like colours. Now they are gone. :-(
And I need to mouseover the Icon and wait for the Information window, what this Icon is for...

Okay I too hated the new UI, still do for the Eve menu new graphics as they all look the same and Im forced to relearn what is what and now itll be easier to missclick in haste. But since I turned off that blur and turned transparency to 0, thanx Chribba you da man!!, its a lot better and more like the old one. Enough to suit me anyway.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

I think the icons are ok, after a week or two everyone will get used to them.

On the other hand I think the new color schemes are bad. The only difference between them is border and button color. I always used schemes with brighter window "interior", now it's just black. This really hurts my eyes.

Great job CCP, keep it up and none will stay in eve. The Loss of half of players for last year - that's the result of closing such threads.

New UI is not smth realy NEW, it's just a SKIN! I don't have an opportunity to choose UI skins. Why?

Nah. I still can see and distinguish everything. Very very distracting! I've tuned youe sneak peek a little bit.

They're all so monotone it can be difficult to navigate. Last icons had color and were easier to distinguish.

I like the new UI overall it is a nice change.

I discourage running with scissors.

It is a first iteration of new UI, when you dont like and have better argument than "I like color, make my icons shiny/pink/whatever" stop moaning in this thread and give feedback in https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=384110

A: No.

B: Closing threads to contain feedback is fair enough.
As they point out, there's multiple Dev threads to post feedback, because they're reading it.

C: Spam tickets are... Well... Spam. Here's a better idea: create some well-constructed feedback and post it in the feedback thread. The more different people posting about the same stuff, the more likely it is that change will occur.

I like them. When I first saw them on Sisi I thought "hell no!" However I foud that I was very quickly able to adapt and when I switched back to Tq I then found the flaw in the old scheme - the colors were a riot, the details of the icons could not be distinguished properly which meant that the icon itself was "illegable." Did you ever actually try to study closely the old icons in order to see what they were trying to depict? Not too easy or obvious.

The new scheme - while simplified (dirty word to many eve players) makes them clearer and more legible. My advise is give it some time.

It's bad mkay.

I don't know what is considered majority in Iceland but the way i see it the majority of the feedback is not positive.

The new icons all look the same.
Very hard to tell them apart without wasting time.

CCP: I am NOT color blind, please return DIFFERENT colors to the icons.
This monochrome stuff is giving me a headache, and takes several times longer to navigate due to the fact that without different colors I can no longer navigate the menus with my peripheral vision.

First of all, my opinion is not objective since I'm not a designer, but rather subjective one based on my preferences.

That being said, I like the minimalistic design of the new icons, since I generally like the minimalistic design in everything... from furniture and cars to UI. I may need some time to re-adjust my memory for the new icons since I was using the old ones for so long, but I'll eventually get used to it. A designer with experience sure could add something to ease that process (for example color like mentioned here), but I wouldn't honestly know how it would look until it's implemented and I can see it (not a visualizing type myself).

Regarding the color schemes, I have managed to make the exact Black non-transparent color scheme as I had with the old UI. I did however, decided to switch it as soon as I saw the option to match the color scheme with the type of the ship I'm flying. Seriously, that option is great. Now my UI can look fresh and be dynamic every time I switch ships.

Overall, my (subjective) opinion is that it's up to taste and personal preferences, but professional designers might have more objective input.

I agree with you about the icons. I don't mind that they went for the simplistic look, it's just the final design of the icons that bother me. Maybe some time down the road, we could have a choice of theme for the icons?

As for the colour schemes, I don't mind that so much. I personally have mine set to Dark Matter, which is pretty close to the previous colour scheme. Some of the other palettes arn't too bad either.

Old UI - I did not need to think or search Icons
New UI - I HAVE to search Icons on every single action

Old Icons - good
New Icons - Crap

CCP did a new skin? OK, give me a choice to use Old one too. Why should I like new colourless UI ? I don't have to and I don't! Why someone in CCP decides for me? It's a simple skin for Gallente Gods sake! Give us choice!
