So, a friendly Corp mate gave me the new Sarum Edition blueprint for my Revelation. How nice. Although it seems I have to repackage my ship and lose the rigs in order to apply the new skin.

I don't quite see the point in scrapping those expensive rigs just to add what is in essence, paint to the outside of my ship. Should this be changed? Thinking about it logically, yes I think it should.

Am I wrong? If so please elaborate.

First, belongs in Features and Ideas.

Second, it doesn't actually belong there, because ship painting has been talked about and talked about and talked about. What you're looking at currently is, essentially, a beta test for a full-fledged ship painting program. CCP have given us their vision for it, and it does not involve using industry to build new painted versions of the ships using old hulls as materials.

"Thinking about it logically..."

The only logic that matters is the logic of the database.
