Flickering lights

The visual cortex, or part of the brain that reads visual information, doesn’t like flashing or flickering lights. Computers, particularly older computers, tend to have a subtle flicker effect that can irritate the eyes and trigger headaches, Dr. Kaniecki says.

Please remove the gaining/losing focus on a window causing it to shift in colour, it is causing headaches and nausea on multiple players. Not mild, severe.

Just did my first small order update run and it sucks yeah. I doubt I'll be getting headaches and nausea from it but I REALLY dislike it and it will prolly be my biggest gripe with this update as I'll be confronted with it on a daily basis for extended periods of time.

History of last 3-4 years in "design":

* Microsoft makes the next OS flat and gay
* Apple dumps skeuomorphism and makes every flat and crappy and inconsistent in their next iOS

* Google attempts to save face by making an "almost flat" design which "almost" works.
* The rest of the designers are too dumb to make their own unique look and just make everything flat and boring.
* CCP copies the trend and destroys EVE's UI into something almost unusable, by imitating technology from the 80's ( wasn't there a picture of an antique analogue oscilloscope in the dev blog ? )

Excellent work guys, excellent!
Truly "the future" !

I don't want to live on this planet anymore

On a related note, CCP made the following, very quiet announcements alongside the release of the "new UI:"

All future music for EVE will be composed by Philip Glass;

The CCP recommended graphics card to best display the current UI is the Namco System 21 "Polygonizer;"

All future patch notes will be drafted in l33t;

Nicely Done, CCP.

I logged in and couldn't see a thing. It literally hurt the eyes. However, with some customization I became more accustomed to it. I honestly think the old UI was much better than the new one. There are some glaring things that I have complaints for.

The Neocom
I can't see it. I play in window mode and literally have to put my face against the monitor to see my options. They are teeny tiny icons which are flat outlines. Seriously, step backwards. Terrible.

Chat Blinking
Most of the time I cannot tell when I'm blinking. This change is horrific.

Lastly, as a female player I'd appreciate a pink color option. At this point I'd just be ecstatic if the Neocom was fixed.

You can make the necocom icons larger, you might need to right click unlock it first though. I had the same problem.

The station icons are tiny though

Grab the right edge of the bar and drag it out. This will increase the size of the icons.

please give us back color sliders for the ui, these new color sets are nifty but all of them are grey, drab and 2edgy4me. I liked bright colorful UI like this http://puu.sh/dl5pG/e40df518b8.jpg

Agrees, i hate the new UI , please can we have the old one back.

Actually going to be rather harsh "It sucks donkey balls" this new colour theme (lack of). Taking away the colour slider bars, i truly can't understand this concept at all.

Next... for us " visually impaired players"

The new icons, they all look the same to me, since i'm part of the " visually impaired" , yes i have rather bad eye sight, i find it rather hard to tell the difference between one & the next icons.. since the lack of colour. Please could you add colours to them once again, or a option for us to do so. Having different colours truly helps. Different colour patterns for icons, made it so easy for me to see what i need to click on :(

This is kinda what it looks like to me 00001100011100000 when looking at the new icons, if you try clicking on the correct 0 or 1 is rather hard to figure out what one i need. If you add colours with a pattern then the task isn't so hard 000011P0011100Shocked00 , hope this kinda makes sense. I'm guessing i'm not the only person in the game that has this problem.

OK, after playing around with settings for a while, the general UI is "generally acceptable" to me. By playing around I mean changing the color scheme back to black/grey and turning the transparency slider all the way down, lol

Still aggravated abotu the neocom changes. I though the old ones graphically represented what they did, not all of the new ones do, and theyre ugly.

Unlike apparently a lot of people , I like the new ship looks. I especially like that more defined differences in color are made for ships with smimilar "base" hulls, such as Pilgrim / Curse and Omen / Omen Navy Issue, etc.

Speaking of Pilgrim / Curse, I DO recall a short discussion from Fanfest 2014 about a rebalancing of Recons.... just sayin..

EDIT: Oh yeah, the new map is freaking AMAZING. GJ there!

I'm not happy with the UI or the lighting system. Some ships look awesome (mostly Amarr), whereas others look like molded plastic and/or thin foil.

The UI is annoying beacuse of being too dark, too bright, or too high contrast, and I can't find a way to customize the colors. Maybe there is some option somewhere I'm not seeing.

Would hate to have to quit Eve over this, but after 30 mins I'm already feeling the eyestrain. This is not a pleasant gaming experience for me.

pilgrim looks broken .. some weird lumpy grey stuff along the side

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

Where are the pirate faction clothes?

Overall I like the new ui - slicker and quicker. Just feels cleaner to me. Im not sure what all this flickering nausea is that folks are talking about - guess its just not a problem for me *shrug*. I also play on a huge monitor so maybe that has an effect.

Lighting is pretty neat looking - although, as Im sure you are aware, older ships now are showing their age compared to to newer models. One look at the new Eagle, Rook, Blackbird and Confessor makes the older ships look like they're from a different game altogether.

Keep up the great work guys!

Hello CCP,

I'm not going to do what most people are doing and complaining before they've even given the update a chance. Instead, I'm going to give some feedback based on things that I've noticed. I hope this helps!

- Channel Activity flicker is too subtle, maybe consider changing this slightly.
- The Neocom is a massive improvement in my opinion, I have learnt all the new icons already.
- I think overall the new rendering method looks good, certain hulls need some tweaks.
- There does seem to be some FPS problems with the UI blur/transparency.

Patch was deployed really well and so far seems pretty mint!
