I've been grinding away at the career agent missions and Sisters of EVE mission arc and relatively little to show for it. A couple million ISK here and there was not going to kick start any career in PvP, and loot dropped from duels was paltry. I decided there must be a better way. I went out and began searching for an easier way to fund my future life of crime.

I happened upon some ice miners in my search and noticed a veritable bounty of cargo cans jettisoned with a buffet of ice and ore. It was the day after Thanksgiving and I can only surmise that they had taken thier fill and emptied these leftovers for those less fortunate. So I snagged up a Miasmos on the market for 1m (ouch, almost half of my wallet) and headed out to the feast amid a swarm of drones and Skiffs. One can, two cans, three cans, four! Oh my, what a find! I dropped my ice at the nearest station and went back for more. Alas, the feast was adjorned and a Nightmare was awaiting my approach and promptly relieved me of my recently purchased ship and pod (rookie mistakes).

I lost around 3m in the ordeal, but netted 14m from the ice for a 11m profit. Considering this was almost 5 times the amount that I previously had, I awoke in my new clone with a smile on my face and visions of improving this little game. I just bought another Miasmos...

Bravo on a brilliant coo, OP! There's a lot of good advice on this page which is very much worth its weight in isk. You're what Eve needs, fresh faced determination! Big smile

Again, Bravo, old bean!

Why, thank you, Thing!

As a tip: myself and several friends mine ice in Procs/Skiffs with points (warp disruptors) fitted. Since cargo room isn't a major concern on a Mia, fitting a few warp core stabilizers wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

Just in case, ya know.

EDIT: After looking at your killboard, I see you started fitting the Mia. Excellent. Please excuse my previous comment.

Skiffs with points? I like the cut of your jib sir.

So, you picked up 4 cans of ice and then a Nightmare was waiting for you when you returned, which killed your ship and pod. Hm..

A fresh character with obviously, Gallente Industrial I-3, picks up between 27.500m3 and 110.000m3 of cargo, what doesn't fit here?

Mainly, that multiple trips is an option....

It has been great fun, I've amassed over 75 million and lost four Miasmos in the process for an approximate ~62 million ISK gain. However, I think I am wearing out my welcome in my AO and need to diversify my pirate portfolio....

I've recently begun picking fights, antagonizing miners by stealing thier ice/ore and destroying thier mobile tractor units. The loot is not as profitable, but the thrill of the combat more than compensates.

Further, I invested my ice/ore/loot ISK into a EVE poker site and have nearly tripled it! My net worth is over 250 million ISK, thanks to generous miners and poker players in the community. Now, I am searching for new and adventurous ways to further invest my time...

Having read about mission runners, I'd like to explore probing them down and picking fights with them, but I don't think my skills are there yet in either combat or probing. Exhortion via war seems like an big(?) opportunity and I have tabbed multiple lazy mining corps in a 'Prospects' folder, but 50 million ISK is a considerable investment.

Thoughts?

If you really, really want to drive miners insane, steal their ore, then jetcan it yourself and shoot your own can. You can transfer the entire contents of their can into yours first to make sure you blow it all up.

It's such a wasteful act that it makes ISK-obsessed players furious. And like in poker, a furious opponent is a very valuable resource.

Edit: On mission probing. You want to fit a ship to be effective against active tanks (drones for damage, a mixture of nosferatus and neuts for disruption) and you want to be able to tell your opponent's resist holes and swap damage to target their weakness. A Worm is *perfect* for swapping damage.

The actual probing isn't hard. Scan for Mobile Depots with combat scanner probes. Once you bookmark one, swap to your combat ship and fly to the MTU and obliterate it (going suspect in the process).

Wardec extortion generally works only if you can reinforce a POS, which usually takes 6 to 12 people.

True statement! I experienced this yesterday. I had to dispose of a can quickly, as my Miasmos was four jumps away. The barge pilot attacked me in response! I did my part to help the economy by meeting demands for spare strip miners at the end of the day, making me 3m richer.

I decided to go the war declaration route. It was a costly 50m, but should provide ample entertainment and, hopefully, returns this week. PSI Division, who in another thread declared thier committment for law and order, currently holds 90+ targets! With luck, I can do enough damage to make them consider ending the conflict through the transfer of ISK.

What is a reasonable amount to begin negotiations at? My thought was 500m, as I imagine only 2-3 corps out of 10 would likely pay to end a war - at least until I build a reputation for keeping my word. Thoughts?
