Hello again forums! The title pretty much sums it up, self explanatory to a point.

I'm using an orthrus at the moment with ~930 dps using RLMs. It's glorious. However, it's a rather valuable ship to take into lowsec for combat anomalies, whereas the drake is somewhat cheaper, and if memory serves me correctly, it's a little tankier too.

I have the skills for Tech 1 ships (and tech 2 Amarr frigs), weaponry and modules, but money is no issue so feel free to post opinions without that constraint.

My main goal is to find a ship that can go into lowsec and do combat anomalies, while having the potential ability to resist ganks as well.

Thanks for your help and input!

P.S. Don't read my previous posts. I was using a T1 BS for Level ONE security missions. I had issues. Also, to the guy who said I looked like Severus Snape, you sir, deserve a medal and a cookie. Cool

I wouldn't recommend a Drake or Navy Drake for combat anomalies in lowsec as they are big and slow and thus you're more likely to get caught doing an anomaly or while traveling. The Orhtrus on the other hand as you mentioned is abit blingy and if you do get ganked in the Orthrus it will set you back a whole lot.

In my opinion the best way to prevent getting ganked while doing PvE in lowsec is to use a PvP fit that is also capable of PvE so when you eventually get jumped you have a good chance to kill/drive off the aggressor. Ishtar is great for this since the standard shield kite fit has more than enough tank for most lowsec anomalies while being fast, having lots of dps and range and capable of defending itself. The Ishtar also has a utility highslot for a cloak so you can use the MWD + Cloaky trick for safe travel too.

However if you don't have the skills for Ishtars, you could also make some T1 cruisers work for this. I'd need more details on your skills to suggest a specific fit/ship.

Considering the Orthrus is the best ship in the game- i would stick to that. BC's are pretty **** in the current meta. Generally I prefer my RLML orthrus XLASB fit, dual BCS / Nano in the low. With scram / longpoint. If you are a good pilot, basically nothing can touch you in that ship- doubly so when you are inside a complex, and cant have **** warped in right on top of you.

My vote:
Orthrus: X143507183240981734012834
Drake: -10
Navy Drake: -132489701234780123847012384701
