Just a heads-up that there's an EVE fiction contest announced over in the Out of Game Events and Gatherings forum. 32 bil ISK in prizes.

Write it, mate. Smile And if you feel like it after that, write some more. There aren't any limitations on the writing palette. Every possibility just needs a framework...

Just as a clarification:

  • Is there only one prize or will there be money given out for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc?
  • I'm assuming this is correct, but is it simply a fiction piece or are poems and such accepted?
  • Does it have to be EVE related?
  • Who do you send it in to? I'm assuming you

In Character: Only responds to "Lord Draconis"

-There are lots of prizes, from Honorable Mention to Grand Prize. About 20 total.
-The piece can be in any format (prose, verse or whatever). But, one should probably bear in mind that the piece will be competing mostly against prose fiction that have a "story." That is, a plot with a beginning and ending. Which is not to say prose stories get any official preference in the judging.
-Yes, the piece should be related in EVE, if it's going to be entered as a contest entry. It wouldn't have a chance of the judges giving it a prize if it wasn't EVE-related. But the contest website also has a 'Reading Bank' page for stories that aren't contest entries. Feel free to link any kind of piece there.
-An entry as to be posted somewhere on the internet, where the judges and other writers and readers can access it. The specifics are on the contest website.

I'd recommend checking out the contest website for the full background, before you start writing. While you're there, check some of the stories entered in the past two contests. Some are really excellent, and they'll give you an idea of what the judges picked as winners.

Hmmm... this would be totally sweet to enter if I had more time in real life to actually write anything...

Working on it...

Does anyone know if spalling occurs in our ships? I'd think so considering there's bleed into hull at low armor values.

This might be interesting. I will try to submit something. Only having entered New Eden through Dust I'd like to see if my understanding of the culture and scope of New Eden is up to snuff.

Horribly enough I had a great idea the other day......but I just can't remember it now......

So... When do we find out who won in each of the respective categories?

The judges are reading and scoring now. It's hard to guess when everyone will be done. I'd think everyone will want to be finished before Santa comes.

I've been an active literary artist for a total of five years, six by mid spring. This is not only right up my alley, but I have also been writing my own Eve story in my free time. It's perfect too. I was just writing for fun, but now I can turn a profit.

Look, lads and all ye lass', there be hope, no matter what downs ya. Thar always be hope. Live to tell the tale, make yerself known. Thar nay be anythin' more frightenin' than a force ta be reckoned with.
