I still don't believe it makes it pay to win although it DOES make Eve infinitely easier. Even with skills and the right ship..you still have to pilot it. No matter how much you spend when you first start out won't make up for **** poor piloting skills and judgement calls.

This was a big part of the reason I quit flying with large outfits. Pilots worship a few numbers on the killboard and it really takes way from the fun. As far as i'm concerned it's not fun unless I have something to lose. If i'm flying with 5 rifters and 3 drakes and we take down a 2 bil Tengu it's cool and all but I promise you that if you're solo in that tengu and dive into a small gang and you're the one risking something it's FAR more exciting and not only that when you win you look much more like a badass. I've lost a number of expensive ships getting into fights with small gangs but when I win the rewards far out-way the small gang pvp I used to do in cheap ships. Plus it gives others something to brag about when they do kill my shinies.

I left my last corp with a very high efficiency and now have a somewhat lower efficiency and am much happier for it.

I don't have the balls/skill yet to fly expensive ships solo, but I'll happily throw cheapish (20-30 Mil) ships in dangerous (1v many, or 1v1 outshipped) situations repeatedly - resulting in a solo 'efficiency' of around 50%.

Because from my point of view, it's a win-win situation:

- If I win, I'm badass
- If they win, we all had a good time - a few minutes of pew pew is better than ship spinning. I pay my sub to fight, not to run from anything that's not a 99.9% certain kill
- In any case, going against the odds teaches me more than blobbing someone with 10 mates (though that's fun, too)

I'm going to assume that character comes with the common sense needed to pilot those ships too.

Oh, why do I even bother. I came from real P2W games. The "Buy this set from CS and destroy entire teams with 2 brain cells" games.
Obviously winning in Eve is as simple as buying a Proteus, stealing a fit, and Orbit@20 F1.

Pretty much all the Gallente ships now have viable hull tank fits that are actually quite good. I find that the Gallente frigates, destroyers, BC and BS are quite amazing hull tanked. Not so much the Cruisers though.

#1) Its easier to buy ISK
Plex prices are way up

#2) Its easier to make ISK
Incursions and FW

#3) Ship prices are lower
It used to be a faction BS (except the rattle) cost over a billion ISK. Now I see them in the 600m's
I've noticed many faction ships falling in price, or at least holding steady while PLEX went up.

If plex = the value of play time, then these ships are less valuable

I can earn enough to buy a cynabaal in a few hours.

As far as efficiency. I doubt flying a ship 3x as expensive will improve your kill ratio b 3 or more...
But it does mean you can engage in more fight with a hope of winning/surviving.
And maybe thats all you want, more fights...

But I doubt those people playing station games in T3s lose them.
They can probably tank until the aggro timer expies, and then dock. If so many hostiles enter system that they can't, they'll just change tactics, I'm sure
