I suggest a method or something similar to this for giving out the prizes. It looks as though there are many prizes, so a simple system to protect the prizes makes sense. This is what I came up with.

If for example there are 200 prizes, prize 1 (whoever gets first place) consists of 30 of those prizes, handing out 30 items in space seems a bit of a logistics problem. Instead, place said prizes in separate cans in Jita IV-4 and name each can based on prize place and name of the competition. Like in the Rookieship brawl, there are 5 prize places so you would fill five appropriately sized cans with the prizes for those five prize places: 1st place prize(s), 2nd place prize(s), 3rd place prize(s), etc. Names would be Rookieship brawl - 1, Rookieship brawl - 2, Rookieship brawl - 3, etc

In space, the logistics of putting all those prizes in a jetcan or other is not needed if you only place a bookmark in the jetcan. Those bookmarks can be renamed to match 1 of each codeword = prize cache. Santa creates the codeword list to what each codeword means i.e. competition and prize place allows keeping those prizes anywhere such as Jita. Thus, once the bookmarks are found and Santa is contacted with appropriate codewords, prizes can be contracted from Jita. Keeping the competition location separate from the prize distribution spot (Jita) is the point here.

Each codeword combined with the competition and placement in that competition is almost impossible to guess. So, for 3rd place Rookieship brawl, the codeword might be "Limpkin Centipede Palikir 3rd place rookiEshiPbrawL" or whatever variation helps Santa keep the gift-giving system secure.

and nice to see you survived Santa thought the Yule lads ganked you last year

so nice to see in the spirit of the season they only blew away the ship and didnt pod you ;)

Thanks for the suggestions, we give the prizes out in the event system that evening via direct trade at the station or contract, aside from the named event prizes, the gift cans are all filled up prior to the event and are given out by my helpers, they could, but don't look in the cans to see what's in them when they are passing them out and this is mostly due to the fact that they are too busy to bother, but it also has the effect of randomizing the giveaways so that each person truly gets to open their package to see what's inside the can.

My helpers are also folks I've known from other gaming experiences, so I know that I can trust them to follow the spirit of the gift giving.

Santa Spirit? Why does EVE always give us crap for Xmas? Last year the stupid elf thing? This year Xmas events??? Whatever and Bah Humbug I (and a lot of others) are perfectly capable of creating our own content! Give me a nice stack of Geckos or some SPs or something that actually has some value. Scrooging on this like a boss!

I can't speak to why EvE (CCP) does, or doesn't do certain things, I can however tell you that this EvEnt was started a couple of years ago without CCP's help, EvEn though, I'm totally stoaked that they are helping this year and doing so in a huge way.

All I had hoped for from them this year was a mention in the news or something and to have a GM or someone from CCP's side of the game warp our rookieship contestants/group to a spot where concord wouldn't interfere with the battle, and CCP_Leeloo (IE.CCP) went above and beyond that for us "like a BOSS!!!"


and scrooging is ok too, I hope you come to the event... who knows, you might get a package with something useful in it for you.
