I randomly donate isk to brand new players that catch my eye in local. Sometimes it's a million here or there to help them on their way.

Most don't notice it.

I used to do this, but I used to just randomly send anything between 1 mil to 50 mil. Given that 9/10 times they don't notice, I stopped doing it. Must have just been new alts rather than noobs? Dunno.

Nicest things people have done for me is teaching me all the things. I don't fit ships beautifully but I don't fly around in the disastrous **** fits that I used to, and that's thanks to their help.

I think the nicest thing another player has done for me was the following:

I fleeted with another miner a couple of times, then on a subsequent occasion I saw her in a belt being attacked by one of the local nuisances. When she was low in armor she asked for help in local (her attacker was also low in armor so it looked like I might actually be able to provide some help), so I pitched in. The 'nuisance' stopped bait tanking and destroyed my ship and my drones whilst my acquaintance magically recovered and left.

Lesson learned!

I do generally try and be helpful to other players, I find corp can be a bit of a *headmeetsdesk* experience when it comes to helping new people - I'm still in my starter corp so there is a never ending stream of new players, some of whom really refuse to listen. I've helped other miners in local on a lot of occasions. I do give isk to new players too from time to time. Not much admittedly, my current balance is 13mil isk which is not uncommon for me so there's a limit to how helpful I can be, but as others have pointed out, even a few million can make a big difference to a new player :o I did give someone a Retriever a few weeks ago - although some might view that as more of a hindrance than a help. They had said they were saving up to buy one lol, so it wasn't just a random 'here... go get yourself killed in this' type gesture.

On the other hand maybe encouraging other players to get into mining is a bit like encouraging 5 year olds to get addicted to crack...

Shocked

... oh now I realize that I am actually a terrible person, I have never done anything kind for anyone else in EVE and I deserve to be stuck mining forever... :(

A while ago, someone gave me several hundred millions for a single unit of tritanium.
A living proof that eve is not full of despicable scammers, but also has generous and altruistic people...

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I didn't tell anyone off on reddit for a whole day for being a cesspool of yogurt clotted neckbeards. Oh. Nicest thing someone has done for ME. I got given 1.69 billion isk a few weeks ago by a stranger.

Did 'she' have a strong masculine jaw and the sort of arms that could safely lift you off a horse and whisk you off to bed?

It was the june of 2010, just before I started playing EvE. Did some research abot the game itself, and learned one could earn enough ISK by ninja salvaging in 21 day trial period, to afford PLEX and basically play for "free" from the scratch. So I made it my goal. Got the 21 day trial, learned all the relevant skills, found a nice mission system(Dodixie), got myself a Probe and dove into scanning clueless mission runners.
Things were going pretty well, since back then salavge still had a good price. Combo of salvage + stealing juicy loot netted me some decent profits.

But few days until the trial expiration I was still some 50 mil short of PLEX, so I pressed on. In the proccess I stumbled upon this guy(lets call him Joe) in a Kronos, who got really butthurt for me salvaging his wrecks. He blued the wrecks, convoed me and pretty much raged on about my actions which he found unjust and low.

However after some ridiculing, I straightforward explained to him I'm new to the game, low on skills and this was my only way of income, and also told him about my goal to earn enough for PLEX.

Few mins later he told me to check my wallet. To my suprise and disbelief there was 100 mil more than I had moments ago. Joe donated me the ISK so I could achieve my goal. Needless to say I was overwhelmed with happines. A moment ago "enemy" was kind enough to help a newbro out, even if that newbro dabbled in shady ways of ninja salvaging.
I immediately bought the PLEX, which was 297 mil ISK at the time, and made a promise to Joe I would return the 100 mil he gave me ASAP.
And I did. At 1.8 mil SP I hopped into Typhoon and started doing lvl 4's of my own. Slow and bumbling at first, but few weeks later I fully repayed him for his kind donation. At the end I made a good friend and been flying with PLEX till this very day.

tldr:
got donated ISK by mission runner I was ninja salvaging, so I could afford my first plex before my 21 day trial expired Big smile
