Advice please:

Ok, so i'm looking to buy a new PC, i have £1000/£1500 to spend. I can NOT be trusted to build it myself.

I've looked through some UK based sites that offer custom builds, which just fryed my head completely.

I need a monitor and keyboard, nothing fancy.

I'd like atleast 16 gig RAM, a 2 gig GC would be nice. I'm an Intel fan. (i dont know why).
I'd like to be able to play games without having to turn all the settings to low or off.

I play EVE, ED, Skyrim (type games).

I currently use a laptop, so quite frankly anything is going to be an improvement.
Also i wont be able to upgrade it for a while, so if the advice is to wait untill i have a bigger budget, speak up.

I'm not overly techy so will not be looking to add a gazillion monitors in the future.

Thanks in advance.

I recommend you start looking at choosemypc.net. this website offers easy selection of general variables like budget and OS inclusion - Windows.

It's a great place to start picking your build. note that it gives a recommendation from which you can make modifications yourself by writing down the components that you would like to change.

give it a go. choosemypc.net

Thanks i had a brief look, watched the vid , where he builds two PC's, while making it look easy, i loved to just give it a go but i fear i'd mess it up, rather have an exspensive warranty than a FU MB.

I did notice how much i'd save tho, or rather how much more bang i'd get for my buck, if i built it myself.

Tollen, you can probably find a local computers store and ask them for a price tag for a build you made on the internet using CMPC.

It's how I buy/upgrade my PCs.

New notebook!

Important specs:

i7-4710MQ
Geforce GTX765M
1920x1080@15.6"
Some HQ audio stuff I have no clue of.
Steel Series Keyboard (honestly loving it! :D)

Still need to plug in at least a small 16GB msata SSD for pagefile and crap.

I love it! The display is so sharp! So sharp!! SHARP!! OMG!!! OMG YES!
I thought FullHD at 21" is nice, but THIS is just freaking AWESOME! :D

Awesome site! Very instructional in terms of gaming PCs (eventually I understood why gaming rigs use i5 rather than i7).

That's a cool site, never heard of it before. I usually just use pcpartpicker.com, works really well for price hunting and allows you to save multiple different builds if you make a profile there, though you have to configure them yourself. You can use it to set price alerts for individual parts too. Also shows builds that others have made and reviews of parts. I really like that choose my pc site too, really nice for figuring out your initial direction with your build.

All my life I was using desktop machines ...
... until I bought my first 13" notebook.

After that I once more built my own desktop together ...
... and realised that I hated it and had no use for it anyway.

Since then I love paying a bit extra for the comfort of having it everywhere.
