Determine a system from a star in the backdrop?

I did some searching but couldn't find out if there is a way to determine what star in the backdrop correlates to what system without trying to set a bunch of autopilot routes ingame in the general direction. If anyone know if this is possible any help on how to do so would be much appreciated!

As a side note, the reason I want to do this is as I was passing through Sheroo (< Ekrin < Genesis) I saw a bright yellow star in the backdrop and it would be awesome to check the system that this very noticeable star is in one day. I ho check the gates in system to see if any of them are directed at it, but none were.

Here are pictures if anyone has any idea (I've also included a picture of the compass when I took that screenshot since we now have a space north!

Not sure whose dungeon you just escaped from, but congratulations on that. Welcome back to the world.

That very star was all the rage just recently, and I'm pretty sure other people have already figured out all you might want to know, and all you can know, for now.

Let's call it "Maxx's Star!"

Cool

Seriously, if you wanted to do something like this, you could go to each gate in the system, look at the orientation of the gate, and identify which star in the sky is the one to which the gate will take you.

Then, using the new beta star map in Rhea you can compare angles with features in the sky to get an idea of the direction of a new object.

You would need to do this from a couple systems as far apart as possible where you could see the object if you want to guess its distance, however.

This is how I wanted the new map to be, just an overlay on the star field, not a separate window type thing (again).

Everybody else is calling it 'caroline's star'.

Also can we now have it that the eve gate can be seen from every system, as per the lore as this star demonstrates that it can be done.

Yeah sorry buddy, the star got the name 'Caroline's Star' a few hours after Caroline Grace first brought it to light on Twitter. It even has a hash tag.

It would be cool if one day map would be just a big big seemless interactive zoom out from the ship in space, first solar system and then region and then the whole cluster ^^
With everything interactive and all that XD
