I know Battlecruisers aint exactly FOTM presently, but hey a Cov Ops version could be pretty neat?

DPS platforms but probably not BS weaponary this time around.

That would be my question as well. What niche would this fill our what purpose would it be for not already handled by one of the various configurations of T3 or recon cruisers?

I'm right behind you

It could be a the combat covert ops we all want. Combat covops = stratios, t3 cruisers, and black ops BS.

Base such a thing on the "brawly" combat battle cruisers of each race, remove their MMJD ability, 1.1x base HP with the reduced t2 resist profile for t2 battleships. Fairly tight fitting room for a t2 ship and voila.

Talking more,

Flying crazier,

And drinking more

Making battleships worth the warp

What would it do different than the 3 you mentionned?

I had been thinking the same thing recently. Can't think of a really compelling reason to add it, but I can't think of a reason not to add it either. It would give players more options. Maybe they could have some special abilities like oversized guns/torps.

T3s pretty much cover any kind of balanced covert ops use with a battlecruiser really.

These ships would have no actual use, and adding ships for the sake of adding ships is never a good idea

Stratios is an exploration cruiser. Can be used for combat but that's not the ships purpose. T3 cruisers are overpowered, I know, but they come with a high price and skill cost on death. Black ops BS is self explanatory... what is the difference between battleships and battle cruisers?

Smaller than BS, medium guns for smaller targets, not a t3, not an exploration vessel. Mid cost mid firepower mid size and speed.

But yeah, they are closest to t3's.

Honestly, I just wish that combat recon ships were covert. I'm not really sure why they are not. I can count on one hand how many times I've seen a Rook on field; it's always a Falcon.

sounds poo Big smile

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

I forsee nerfage to such a ship on a scale that would make them pointless.

While the idea is enticing, it creates other issues: balance.

I like the idea because I believe it would introduce more forms of pvp. and the more the merrier imo.

The downside to this would probably be that with Battlecruiser CPU the Expanded Probe launcher would be fairly easy to fit and I know that most people don't want a Cov-Ops ships with enough Tank and DPS to be able to scan down and kill T3 boosters with a single ship. (I see no problem with it, but I know there are quite a few that do)

More Ships
More creative forms of combat

Thanks for the support, yeah presently I see cov ops slightly hindered DPS wise between either Stealth Bomers or the longer train to Battleships Cov Ops, a battlecruier on route could in my mind be an option.
