This is the rule in question
"Items cannot be listed among the character's valuable assets, only skills, implants and reputation. You are buying/selling the character ONLY and nothing else. Ships and items can be readily bought on the market for ISK. "

Interpreting it is fuzzy. The first line indicates the rule is referencing what you can actually negotiate within a character sale. If the Rhea was forgotten, it wasn't negotiated within a sale and might be fair game to keep. The second line however shakes things up a bit...

Petition it.

As said the Rhea was not intentionally part of the sale or an incentive, I have heard of items and Isk being left on characters. Safest thing to do is petition and find out if you are obligated.

Just give the ship to the guy. Especially if the character was a good deal.

Uhm...

May I ask why you come to a community forum when this is something you want OFFICIAL statement about?

Petition and ask someone who actually makes and enforces the rules....namely CCP.

Don't ask a bunch of fellow players how rules should be interpreted...as with 1001 players, you will get 1001 different opinions.

You have two options.

Be the good guy and return it or be a proper EVE player and laugh all the way to the bank.

Your choice.

there are millions of other issues where OP would instantly get a correct and detailed answer on the forums, some of them just as obscure as the problem at hand. i fail to see how he would know the difference between his question and the other ones.

as for the problem at hand: my gut feeling tells me that you could get away with keeping the ship, but you would have made an enemy in the process. filing a ticket is still a good idea, also don't forget to tell us how it went.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Actually, those two options only apply after OP has been given green light by CCP.

To my knowledge, rules on Character trades are very strict so petitioning that whole matter first is really the way to go!

Difference being...

That if you do something illegal with a character transfer, it gets you banned...

So in those cases, it's better to be safe then sorry and just ask CCP directly (also, so that you have an official answer that you can present when **** hits the fan, opposed to "But the forum people said....")

Sure. Petition it to be sure.

But I can tell you, as someone that has been character trading for seven years that it's going to be fine. Unless something has been changed.

I've been on both sides of that situation on plenty of occasions. As long as the items left on the character were done so by accident or stupidity, the buyer gets to keep them.

The only time a GM will pull something from a sold character is if the seller has forgotten to transfer the ISK used to purchase it.

Items are not included in a character transfer. Return it.

Really, it isn't worth the hassle of dealing with CCP.

Here is my experience. I recently sold a character that had all the shares to my alt corporation on it (I know, I'm a tool Oops). I petitioned it and CCP returned those shares to me. Assets are not allowed to be transferred as part of a character sale, and CCP will reclaim those assets if the original owner barks about it. You're better off just giving it back to him before the GMs get involved.

My personal experience tells me this isn't always the case. Of course, as with many things in Eve, it depends on which GM you get and on what day.

That's certainly been my experience as well.

On top of that, how you communicate with them. Polite and coherent as opposed to all-caps nonsensical raging will affect the outcome in most cases.

Don't use the Rhea in the interim. Petition it and let a GM decide.
