A Hulk would be best I'd imagine.

If you mean non-barge type ships (your title and question are a little vague) then any Battleship would be next best (Rokh seems to be most popular).

Hope this helps.

professional mining - Hulk, Mackinaw

leisure, occasional mining - mining cruiser, vexor, osprey etc.

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

A battleship with 8 turret slots and a lot of cpu will be best if you can't fly a barge. The rokh is popular because 8 modulated deep core miner II's (or just miner II's, same cpu usage) and three mining laser upgrade II's will fit on it without a co-processor, with 2 lows left over. Add a co-pro and you have room for stuff in the mids like an afterburner and survey scanner. Add a cargo expander in the other low, and you're golden.

The abaddon, hyperion, and maelstrom can all fit eight miner II's and three MLU's as well, but they have little room left over and no space for a cargo expander.

For battlecruisers, the Ferox, Brutix, Hurricane, and Harbinger are best, but I haven't run the numbers to see which one comes out on top.

For cruisers it's obviously the racial mining cruiser, though for gallente you have a choice. The vexor mines a bit faster than the exequror, but has much lower cargo space.

Orcas didnt mine last time I checked... lol

Use a hulk. and fit two cargo rigs, and some cargo expanders.

If you are doing the solo mining thing in null or wh... Get an alt account. It will help very much,

If that is the case, swap the rigs for mining rigs, and swap the cargo expanders for mining upgrades, if using a hauling alt. the hauler can fit the cargo rigs and cargo expanders... :)

Oh and always fit a probe launcher on the hauler if in wh space... :) trust me.

Hi OP, as suggested above you should look at the mining barges, which are dedicated ships. Cargohold is not the only factor for choosing your ship.
Actually, any "serious" mining ops includes the miner(s),usually using Hulk(s) and a second character, called hauler, in an industrial or other fat-assed ship that brings the mined ore from the belt to a station or POS.
