We haven't heard anything yet, but I'm hoping that they get rid of the floaty window and move the control panel into the Info Panel. They've already made that fairly consistent for other full-screen items (i.e. ISIS, Planet Browser).

Overall I'm very excited about the new map. Probably more so than any other feature announced. What all do you want in the new map?

What new map?

And what functionality will it offer me that elevate it above the terrible version currently in and potentially pry me away from Dotlan?

I heard they were integrating the new maps with Google maps and would also allow you to be rerouted automatically around heavily gate camped areas. Oh and there's also a street view option which lets you look out the side window of the craft you're in.

v. exciting

Rumor mill seems to be saying that it'll look like this: http://now.eveonline.com/image/103544776808 It's literally full of stars. Shocked

So they slapped a fancy visual veneer over it. Yay.....

Seeing as I don't care what it looks like since it offers me no real reason to open it, why does this matter?

Are they adding nay actual features to it?

At least it's not being linked to Apple Maps. Imagine setting destination to Jita and ending up somewhere in Omist.

I can see how that would be visually very interesting. I wonder what tools they're going to use to filter things down and give you the information you need.

I imagine that could be in real-space and you can spin your ship around to see where you are. Mind you this doesn't work well in real life. We don't do overlays of streets and towns in our cars, nor cities and countries on our boats because it doesn't summarize well. I hope they're not going to make a major mistake with this in an effort to make the thing more attractive.

make it prober friendly .. the amount of times i try to use D-scan and then the map and try too figure out where my ship is pointing so the d-scan is useful for finding the ship...

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

1: Add better Icons for the system map, possibly based of of something like the modern blue forces tracker with fairly information dense icons, and color coding to indicate status.
2: Range markers for the galactic map for capital pilots, showing jump ranges
3: Different color links for constellation and regional links vs. standard gates, especially the links are especially long.

Range should be displayable to anyone, as subcaps can drop cyno's. And they may also want to know who can cyno to them as well, meaning everyone cares about jump range.
