*Snip* Please refrain from posting Troll bait. ISD Ezwal.

I'm not a new player to this game. I had a 20m sp char a while back and I was in BoB. I left a few years ago and now I'm back. I trained up drones for 2 months and now I realize the drone aggro mechanic makes drone missioning l4s no fun at all.

I've read many threads about this, and I understand how sentries work, and about recalling drones, and watching red-to-yellow etc.

My main issue is that it isn't worth spending time docking, refitting, and constantly shuttling drones to do level 4 missions.

It's ironic, really, because back when I played, everybody started Caldari Achura because it had a SP advantage. Then CCP supposedly leveled the playing field. But the drone aggro unleveled it again. Missiles/torps are king again. Just switch ammo types while fighting. I guess I should have trained caldari in the first place, yes?

I wish CCP would let people reroll their skills in the first 3 months - I am so annoyed because I just don't have the time for these 3 hour missions and I don't have the time to log in to a corp every day and go on 4 hour ops.

Mining is boring, PVP requires ISK, flipping in Jita is boring and pointless, and exploration is a waste. I explored for three weeks in lowsec and found nothing but data sites with 3m max in them.

Unless somebody has any better ideas, I've concluded that this game isn't fun to play anymore.

Quick solution: Do something else, or play something else.

Alternatively: Embrace the fact that things change and adapt.

Advice: Don't be a filthy casual.

Or, be a filthy casual and enjoy it anyways.

Embrace PVP. You know you want to.

If I'm going to pay money to CCP, I pretty much can be whatever I want. The problem is, nothing is appealing anymore.

I suspect you didn't expend much effort putting together that reply.

Drones are still awesome, just require a ton of micro management when flying solo against 100 red crosses.

Getting friends to mission with can totally solve this, once there are 2-3 in fleet the npcs mostly ignore your drones if you dont launch them instantly.

Actual players also die relatively well to drones.

Stop flying solo

stop being so concerned with isk and loss

Get out of the NPC noob corp.

The fury bot also mentioned something about not being a filthy casual. This is also great advice. There are great ways to start taking that advice, they are listed above. :]

Sentries blitz L4s no problem, basically warp in, MJD to range, drop sentries, win. Other types not so much. This has been changed for quite a while, you should really have read up on the current state of the game before diving into a skill plan.

If you're going for just PvE then you can always train into missiles, it won't take long to get to T2 HAM's and support skills. PvE is pretty static in tactics (read, boring lol) so once you have a set-up then that's that.

Why should I, if your first reaction is to come here and complain that it's CCP fault?

If you left years ago it's safe to presume that a lot of game mechanichs have been reworked since then. For your own sanity just assume you are a complete noob and learn the game as yif you knew nothing about it. Set your skilltree as if you had none. Pick skills that you find fun when drones don't do the trick anymore.

Start from scratch and do what you enjoy most.

what Lister Dax said: MJD away, drop bouncers and they'll rarely get aggroed.

also the money paid to CCP is to get access to the client, no other intention or obligation is implied or intended.

Your level of entertainment is directly related to your level of involvement, your ingenuity, your drive. If you're not bringing these to the table, then yes you're wasting your time.

Complaining about it here will usually result in a turd on your desk.

Want to drone and drones are too squishy? Fly Guristas! Get a Rattlesnake! Less drones makes it easier to manage them! Plus, it benefits from any Gallente training you might have, and you can complement it with Caldari training later.

EVE s that sort of game that you need to make your own fun, else else you will find yourself doing the same thing everytime and not getting much out of it. Put your fingers in multiple pies! Live a little! Make yourself a goal and go after it! This game is so much more than ISK grinding in Level 4 Missions.

Don't do lowsec R&D sites. Since the patch-to-appease-lazy-people, scatter cans were removed and with that came a reduction in loot from each site. The best place to find such sites now is -0.5 or lower.

Depending on what your idea of fun is, you might find it exciting jumping into a bubbled gate with twenty people on it, carrying half a billion in R&D salvage in your 1000 EHP frigate. I know I do. Bear

Catch me if you can.

While you're out exploring you might also find some ghost sites which, in a frigate, are succeed-or-explode-trying hacking sites. We also have the sleeper cache sites now. I was lucky enough to find my first one a few days ago which yielded a ten-run polarized blaster blueprint copy of the battleship flavour. Upon manufacturing these turrets they all sold for about 7-800 million ISK.

It seems you're too concerned with Time:ISK ratio to find other means of making your play time more interesting, whether that's mixing up what you do already or trying out the newer content.

EVE is what you make it. The problem here is you don't seem to have an idea of what to do with your allotted sand. Blink

I mean even wow players know to diversify their possible game situations. Nerfs happen, both with characters and content. Thing is, with a game like this, theres so much damn content, so many possibilities....id think you would have to try very hard to specialize so narrow and enjoy only one certain activity in this game....as to be upset with a change to the point with thinking you've wasted time....

and how do you waste time in a game where enjoyment was had during that time? You are quite literally paying for time enjoyed in a game that is pay to play.

Drone tanking FTW. Put an RR in the high and rep your sentry when it takes aggro. They tank like a boss.

Pardon the ignorance on my part, but is NPC behavior toward drones somehow different in missions than in anomalies? If so, how? If not, there is a certain way to make the rats stick to your ship, with about a 98% success rate (and no I'm not talking about that ******** ewar garbage).

Also, why would you dock to refit? Mobile depots are an amazing thing.

You used to be able to just drop drones in a level 4 and go afk while they cleared the room as they used to not get aggro at all, that is what OP's probelm is, he can't do that anymore. He actually has to pay attention.

Quick tip - fit a target painter and use it.

The NPCs HATE any kind of electronic warfare, and target painters count as electronic warfare.

If you shoot a target painter, it causes them to hate your ship more than the drones, and they will therefore focus fire on your ship, and will leave your drones alone.

Try it, it works even on the Sleeper AI.

Also, the target painter will help your drones to hit.
