Do corpses despawn?

I just spent the last hour and a half painstakingly triangulating the location of a frozen corpse of which the original owner had cleverly tried to hide from us, only to have it suddenly stop showing up on d-scan. I wasn't aware these things "pop". Is the corpse really gone, or did my scanner get messed up when I swapped ships?

They do despawn otherwise space would be literred with them.

They definitely do, but I would think that that would be during down time...

I usally write one of these and then change it a month later when I reread it and decide it sounds stupid.

I think they would eventually be picked up by players and stashed in giant crates of corpses. I never pass up the chance to grab a corpse.

I have such a collection of "famous TESTie" corpses. You should see our station undocks after we get camped for a few hours.

Confirming that for some reason TEST likes to undock random ships to get alphaed when we poke 6VDT.

I have a bit of a collection started in 6VDT already.
