Not many people, or corporations (player-run groups), or alliances (groups of corporations), are going to coddle or baby you. Every player is out for their own gain in one way or another.     1) Choose what you want to do in the game. You are not limited to one track, but it is far easier if you pick 1 or 2 to start out with just to get your bearings.
    -Trade, Industry, PvP, PvE, Exploration, Miner.

    2) Skills. Skills are the lifeblood of the game, it pays to pre-plan an organized skill tree so that you don’t waste time training things you don’t need to train. This game is different from many others in that you don’t have to be online to train. Your skills train when you aren’t logged in.

    -The tutorial missions and starter missions, which you can get from agents, are a good way to acquire the early-on (cheaper) skill books.
