[Rhea] Standard Sleeper Cache, explorers needed!

Greetings once more, explorers!

With Rhea approaching us, we have another new site waiting to be explored named the Standard Sleeper Cache. Much like the limited version, this is an exploration site that offers a slightly different challenge than you may normally be expecting.

The Standard Sleeper Cache plays out a little differently than the smaller limited version, and due to the nature of its puzzle elements I won't reveal many details. There are choices to be made, extreme dangers to find, and some surprises to stumble upon.

This version will however will allow larger ships to dive further into the site, instead of the Frigate only limited site.

Additionally, this is now the most complex exploration site to scan down. Using scan modules to help acquire a 100% scan will be advisable, as well as some good probes.

To help, here is a list for where you can find the site to give it a try:

Odds are a Stratios or scanny/hacky T3 would do it, Phoenix Jones. ;)

Paradox, I'll get my scanny alt onto Sisi and poke one of 'em.

I'm pretty sure that's the plan, and I'm expecting these sites to have the potential to kill the pilot.

Just fyi, someone will arguably deploy a encounter system boey in the middle of one of these clouds, making it probably impossible to retrieve or obtain without a carrier.

Basically it makes swiping the isk impossible for people, unless they jump a carrier into it.

Yaay!!!!

Failed to scan down with 102.4 strength. Trying it with the implant in next.

So. Have it at 70.9 at .5 AU scan with a Strat with a gravity capacitor I rig, 5/4/4 skills, and Virtues, using Sisters gear. .25 naturally pinned it. Without Virtues, a dedicated cov ops or T3 scanning ship near-max may be needed.

Also, new weird thing. While hacking, numbers appear in the circles. Wat? These seem to be all 1s, 2s, 3s, rarely 4s. Is this distance to nearest good-thing? (after various hacking, yes, this is the distance to nearest core, upgrade, or unknown node)

Like the cloaked versions of the various cache bits.

Now, in the site itself. It's an interesting-looking puzzle at the outset. Presumably, the idea is to try to get the pilot to disable the defenses before flinging themselves across the way. I did the depots first, and triggered the alarm-- but missed the alarm buoy next to the depot. 60 seconds is a good time period-- IF people notice the buoy. People might not notice it initially. Because I missed it until twenty seconds later and had headed to the other defense buoy, I ran out of time while trying to sprint through the hack. The guardian extermination buoy deployed, initially the clouds did no damage, then they did it at a phenomenal rate. My plated Stratios was at about 20% armor by the time I MWDd out of the cloud to the new rift area. :x Obviously, this'll kill frigates easily-- and probably any unsuspecting cruisers as well. Sort of brutal. I assume the defense beacon in the first stage turns off the alarm? I'll try on a second site.

After the alarms, the sentries were active, so I then attempted to disable the defense buoy at the central point-- this seemed to help? But not honestly not much. So I activated the tractor array, which functioned, and pulled the 'impenetrable depots' over and made them dented depots, but due to damage constraints I took the rift that had appeared in the center point to run to the cloaked depot area.

I then decloaked everything using the defense buoy, began hacking depots, and then mid-way through used the self-destruct buoy to reset the destruct timer. At that point, I finished hacking-- and decided to hang about to see if the self-destruct would destroy my ship, which was already badly damaged. The self-destruct only destroyed depots-- no damage to ship.

114 scan strength scanned it down with no difficulty. I think you could get it with less with manual movement of probes.

Arla; plenty of interesting stuff in reach. The limited Sleeper caches and ghost sites are accessible. ;)

Darth; it can be done? If you're lucky and suicidal.

Ghost sites are meh. They can be profitable but I am talking about something that is rewarding. SirLivingston explains it well here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghl4cveXzQs
Ghost sites are still hack container - receive bacon.

Judging by the OP the new sites will be very interesting. But it already takes 2 weeks for each T2 analyzer and quite some time for lvl 3-4 scanning skills.

My area was about the same. I disarmed the alarm, unlocked the X Y Z coordinators and flung over to the conclave structure. The sentries were easy to tank/kill. I hacked all the cans there, then slow boated to the tractor beam, which after activating did nothing.

Alright. So, first site was in Otitoh. I'm running my second in Tierijev. Report to follow. So far, everything seems to function.

One thing. The cloaked bits in the entry room look sort of like old-style cloaks-- non-hex.

Now, into the site itself. Defeating the alarm unit was relatively easy-- standard red core hack. Defeating it also revealed a shiny Pristine depot, which was awesome. Completed hacking the depots. This time, I think I'll get a chance to hack the Coordinate Plotting Devices, so will check those out now.

Alright. Completed hacking all CPDs, dropped into the 'high power' remote calibration unit. [no messageID: 298188] in text field, [no messageID: 298189] in header.

So-- got to the far side, engaged the sentries, and popped the defense buoy, sending another sentry to the middle. Now I'm hacking the various depots on the far side.

Things to note at mid-stage on site two: the rear area defensive buoy still reports 'back-line defense,' and getting to the mid-line after clearing the rear reports that I've activated a dormant sentry, even though said sentry is already active. (later note: this also happened with the next sentry in the middle.)

Bug: after hacking the tractor beam when all rear-area depots are complete, the local post is, "...powered down permanently, any further hacking..." This seems to imply failure, even though I was successful. Further, the tractor array beacon doesn't show as accessed or hacked. Ideally, it'd report a successful hack, and then power down as there are no unaccessed depots-- "The Tractor Beam has powered down permanently, as all depots in its range have been ransacked."

Thoughts, having done two. It seems like it's almost easier to let the alarm trigger, and then to race to the secret second room. I used the long-range calibration, though, so I don't know if the short-range calibration also activates the secret room rift.

Edit; Ayallah, I can try doing a third and see abut a video of it. :x But first, break, coffee, gym.

Hm. Fair enough. More interesting low-end exploration content would be good-- but we've needed high-end exploration content for basically ever, so I don't mind CCP taking time to fill it all out.

This site was a blast, just when i think the limited sleeper cache was the best you bring this gem out.

The only thing i could think to improve on the site is to make it have multiple deadspace pockets rather than just the one. You could do this by having return gates in the pockets so one would not have to warp out and then back into the site to finish it.

I was able to scan down the sites with a Proteus, all scanning skills to 5 and T2 core probe launcher with sisters probes, strength 108.3
standard scanning tricks were needed to get to 100% without those it was at 95% i believe a sisters probe launcher would have solved this. I even had a set of mid-grade virtue implants to slowly plug them in to see how many were needed.

It would be nice to see more interactive hacking content like this, as i said in the limited sleeper cache thread, these should be the model of hacking just not all at the same difficulty.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.
