New star (on the right) as seen from Perigen Falls > TPB-KG > MTO2-2 (local star on the left).

I see it's still the way CCP thinks a star looks like in space i.e.

Instead of how a star really looks like in space i.e.

But how many stars emit light that travels faster than light?

If CCP had known it was this easy to build hype they would've overdone bloom like 99% other games out there :P

Aaah, I can feel it... I'am hoping... dreaming even! Hype is in me.

What is CCP doing? The STORY of this universe is once again progressing and It'll hopefully be awesome.

Incursions dying out? Great idea! Althou some will be sad. But lets face it, sansha keeping this pressure up year after year aint likely without an empire countermove.

Jovian pocket universe generator exploding and theres now another universe ?

Aaah, by god, the rising feel of excitment is nice to get after all theese years, something brilliant might be happening. or something terribly silly. But the felling of hpye will remain.

Here are my continued speculations on the matter:

Caroline's Star and Jump Fatigue, is there a connection?

TL;DR version -

New celestial object is some sort of beacon the Sleepers can lock onto, for fast travel.
This would certainly explain the recent Sansha travel struggles in that Region, and ....
...nothing in the Phoebe Jump Fatigue blogs have made a lore connection yet, perhaps they will use this?

Dunno if those exist on Sisi already, or one must use new "Remote Calibration Device" to create one...

O.o no, they don't. I guess those are the wormholes that connect the 101 j-space systems to the rest.

From ER, it appears the object is gaining in luminosity since I checked it this AM.
Can anyone else confirm?

I'm on almost every day, and I've been watching this star from Kor-Azor and Khanid, and I can say with high certainty that it is getting bigger.

They do. From a distance, even without atmosphere, our eyes all see stars with points all the time because of the shape of our retina. The same thing occurs when the Hubble telescope observes stars and in Hubble pictures, you always see stars with four points all pointing the same directions because of the four support beams on the scope. While the stars we see in game are made of pixels, they are certainly not entirely unrealistic. Even so, it doesn't matter because they are made entirely of pixels, so making a big deal out of it is about is obnoxious as talking in the theatre.

We had the New Order brain trust on this as soon as it became visible. Answer: what you're actually seeing is the the visual effect of a James 315 overheated bump that he did, "just to see what would happen."

Sure they exist on the test server...they are the exit gates from Thera to the Empire/nulll sec space as far as I see it. Scanned down the 5 wormholes just for the fun of it and they all are included in that list.
Also M164 seems to be an entrance to Thera from Low sec systems(confirmed). Do not know if 0.0 entrances have same designation.
Edit:
Thera-->0.0-->E587, "Very large ships can pass through this wormhole"
Thera-->low sec,-->V898, "Larger ships can pass through this wormhole"
Thera-->high sec.-->Q063, "Up to medium sized ships can pass through this wormhole"

0.0-->Thera-->???
Low Sec.-->Thera-->M164, "Larger ships can pass through this wormhole"
high sec.-->Thera-->???

Thera--->w-space-->???
w-space-->Thera-->???

I'm just thinking, if we assume that the star's brightness depends on distance (which it seems to), we can work out its exact location very easily. Just take accurate measurements of its brightness in 4 known locations far apart, map the brightnesses to an arbitrary distance scale and use quadlateration to determine the location of the star. We might need to iterate through a full range of brightness-to-distance mappings and assume that the brightness drops off by the square of the distance but we should be able to get co-ordinates out that match up with a system in EVE.

I wrote a program to do quadlateration back in 2005 that I used for busting safespots, so if we have a way to objectively measure the brightness of the star I could give it a go when I get a chance. Any ideas on measuring the brightness accurately?
