So i have been playing EVE on and off for a few years. I have a hulk and I am mining scordite in high sec. I really dont know much about the game even though i have a hulk. I played in such short spans for numerous reasons that i just didnt get the learning experience i need. So... that being said i have no idea what i should be doing or what i should be striving for. Im not much of a risk taker so i wont be doing many missions or 0.0 mining. I think my goal is to just mine until i have enough to afford multiple plex's so i can have a few hulks and an orca going. It's this a good goal? I just dont know what to do. Starting to get bored even though i love the game. Any suggestions appreciated.

One of EVE's main selling points is that it's risky. Mine if you like to mine. If you're getting bored of mining though, more mining isn't going to fix it. Try something new, get out of your comfort zone.

Grrr.

Gonna echo this, and dude! Its a game! Don't worry about lost pixels and crap, learn how to control the risks, make mistakes and learn from them.

My small steps back then started with lowsec ratting/salvaging in a frigate. There were these multiple wrecks on stargates you see, and the loot were mostly T2 mods with faction ammo.. just there.. for the takin. There were a few guys in local, yeah.. the wrecks were 20km from me.. I had my AB and 150m3 cargohold.. yeah? All the time I could hear my heartbeat over my ears and my face was numblike swollen something. All these bodily reactions, just for spending around 30 seconds warping to every wreck, and warping away. It was intense.

Face your fears man! Its a game!

Diverse and you can play for years and years.Hell i only 'quit' playing this summer after 10 years of fun fun fun in the game. There is SO much to do and try in eve and it is an utter shame to waste all your time on just one thing and in my opinion ESPECIALLY if it's just mining the whole day as that is one of the most boring ways to spend your time in eve.And besides it being boring it also generates one hell of a crappy isk/hour .

We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.

Keep mining, but now go to this page and select something to be read to you. It's a free, public domain collection. I just listened to Moby D!ck, Heart of Darkness (Apocalypse Now), Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (Blade Runner), Karl Marx's essay on Capitalism and Wages, Far From The Madding Crowd. NEXT, I think I'll try their Sherlock Holmes collection.

Yes, if you're staring blankly at asteroids for hours at a time, you can get caught up on those classics.
Let someone else read them for you, you slave driver! They've even got War and Peace.

You won't doze off and wake-up to find yourself in a pod!

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

So, you are bored by mining...

And your solution is to mine more. So you can mine with multiple accounts.

Am I the only one that sees the flaw in that logic....

If you are bored, it means you are playing EVE wrong and should do something else.

P.s. in before hulk loss showing up on killboards..

For the love of James 315. Please quit mining as soon as possible!
No I am not even trolling. Mining is boring and will burn you out faster than most other activities in eve. Mining has one of the lowest isk per hour in game. Last but not least, mining skills are not transferable to PvP combat which believe it or not is the cream of eve.

tl;dr quit mining now! Do missions, train for some actual ships and have fun!

Mining as an activity is not a bad thing to do and of course there has to be mining otherwise ships cannot be manufactured. But most miners will not only do mining as that would indeed get a little tiresome. They will do a selection of careers and there are many to choose from within New Eden.

As others above have said you yourself are admitting that even though you love playing EVE you are starting to get bored with your current career choice. So the obvious answer is for you to drop your current goal of 'plex mining', which arguably is another RL job, and who honestly wants a second RL job ? Try out some other options such as missions, which are not really 'risky', exploration sites, trading on the market, maybe Factional Warfare. There is so much to do in New Eden it isn't right to limit yourself to just mining.

If you try PvP you may just find you like it. When I do it I always get that 'heart in my mouth' feeling which is somewhat uncomfortable maybe but it is really exhilarating an a fun thing to do. I nearly took down an Orca on my own the other day which would have been a real achievement for me but I messed up and she got away. Cry Doing PvP doesn't have to cost a lot of ISK as you can do it in frigates with successful results. I recommend you get some training in it and see if you enjoy it.

On the subject of mining tactics doing single account mining using a Hulk is not advisable or economical as that ship has a very small ore hold. You will probably be using jet cans as well which is an additional risk. You would be better advised to use a ship with a larger ore hold or start a second account to have a hauler. Unless of course you are fleet mining with others. Also in terms of ISK Pyroxeres, Plagioclase, and even Veldspar will make you more ISK than Scordite atm.

Sounds like you need a few friends, who wont scam you or gank you, that will teach you and help you along the way. For me just mining is boring but chatting to friends and doing different things within the game are fun. And its more the people than it is the game and Ive been a miner on and off since 2003, more on than off.

Find a corp or even a public chat channel and start talking and sharing your life and Eve life and you might find a social home within Eve thats not so boring. You might even go with your new friends on different adventures into the wide world of New Eden and dare to do a few different things with them.

I just hope you find something/someone before some moron griefs you out of the game like a ******** jackass because they think theyre leet.Roll /me looks straight at Persifonne

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Mining in empire in a hulk? And you say you're RISK AVERSE?

If you really hate risk consider mining in null in a Procurer. Overall it should be higher income to mining in a hulk, except more AFKable (roids last way longer), logistics all taken care of for you, and you get far more warning of people wanting to violence you than highsec. Sure, you might get killed once a week if you're completely oblivious, but since your ship runs 18M for the hull plus 5M for fittings minus 9M for basic insurance (so a 14M total loss + clone) you utterly won't care. Fit T1 except your miner and 2xMLUs and your losses will be less than the bounties you get from your drones killing belt rats between getting ganked while taking a dump / reading / watching Netflix.

As a bonus you get people to talk to, and learn POS mechanics. PI is worth doing in null as well. And I guarantee you'll learn a ton and have goals before the month is up.

Nullbear is the only way to go if you're going to mine and do PI. Go to the recruitment forum to look for a null renter corp that offers 23x7 rorq boosts and mineral buyback. That's a 30 second ice cycle in a procurer, or 90 second ore cycle, and no hauling to Jita. Bring about 60M to get set up. And if you hate it you can always sell your crap there and jumpclone back. Or join a combat corp -- our corp&alliance offers constant lessons to newcomers to null, and plenty give up mining once they taste blood.
